    Simpsons Or Family Guy?

I always have this argument with my friends and so I want to see what you guys say..I'm a huge simpsons fan though and I like the Simpsons alot more. I've grown up watching the Simpsons and I have every season on DVD (that is put on DVD). But yes I would much rather watch the Simpsons then Family Guy. I also have heard though that they are made by the same guys, is this true? Check out these videos...

No, not made by the same guys. The Simpsons creators made Futurama and the Family Guy creators made American Dad.

These are some pretty big stretches

    - The blackjack thing is pretty straight forward

    - The food stealing is kinda the same, but different circumstances

    - The CPS thing is a complete stretch. They're stealing from the Simpsons because the Simpsons also had an episode where CPS their kids away?

    - The dog race thing? Are you kidding me? Similar actions but for completely different story set ups.

    - Both wives get addicted to gambling and this means they copied the entire episode?

    - The car wrecking thing...again, different episode plots with a similar scene.

    - Nuclear vs Nuculer? Hasn't every other comedy known to man done this?

    - The box? The only thing they share in common is they both involve a box and a baby.

    - The stock line roller coaster...sure

    - The cop thing? Are you kidding me?

    - Old blind man gets site back via laser then loses it again vs Joe getting feeling back in his legs then losing it again? I'd buy this one if the Simpsons were the first to coin this concept.

What a bunch of hogwash. I'm sure the producers of Family Guy sit down and watch episodes of the Simpsons with pen and paper so they can copy every punchline the Simpsons have ever made.

The very last line of that 2nd video is very apropos because, even though it's meant as sarcasm, it's quite literally the same concept of what they're doing throughout the entire two videos. (as in the stretches made to make the arguments.)

    Re: Simpsons Or Family Guy?

The Simpsons is a classic show, but with that said Family Guy is better. It's more adult oritented, and I love all the pop culture references.

As for Family Guy copying the Simpsons. That's pretty retarded. Hasn't anyone seen the episode where the old guy sues the creators of Itchy and Scratch? The lawyer breaks it down, everyone copies everyone.

Most the jokes are more along the lines of classic gags. If Krusty gets a pie thrown at his face, and then a clown on family guy had a pie thrown at his face. Would you really go THEY COPIED THE SIMPSONS!!!! None of these things are really original concepts.

Unfortunately, The Simpsons haven't had a punchline for many years.

    I conquer...I mean concur.

The Simpsons is classic, but has stayed well beyond the point when it should have sailed into the sunset. It just reminds me of the episode when Homer bowled a perfect game and milked it for his 15 minutes of fame. Lisa said that "he should gracefully step aside" because he was trying to stay in the spotlight too long.

I like Family Guy more at this point, but I do love those class middle-ish seasons of the Simpsons.

    Re: Simpsons Or Family Guy?

The Simpsons and Family Guy steal from people and guess what? Everyone in Hollywood steals ideas from everywhere. It's kind of hard to come up with new extreme ideas of the course of 30 episodes. South Park, Seinfeld and all the other shows have ideas and jokes similar to others shows. The difference is they put their own twist on it just like the youtube videos show about Family Guy and the Simpsons. Both are similar but different in their own way. I don't call it stealing really because again, new ideas are hard to find on a consistent basis. I like Family Guy better because it is edgier and fell in love when it first came out and introduced to my friends before it was cancelled the first time.
