I need to write a letter of appeal at my local University

Hey guys, I need your help, I recenty applied to go to University of Nevada-Reno, and I was denied because my GPA was .09 below, they told me to write a letter of appeal to them explaining what caused the GPA to fall short.

My reasons are that I worked multiple jobs while going to school, helping my family financially while paying majority of the bills, the more I work the less time I get to study, so thats why my GPA is below the required.

Now I just need your guys help to put in a way so it doesn't seem like I'm writing to them for sympathy, instead just in a way when they read it, they can be like "We need to give him a break" or something allongs that line.

Maybe call the office and ask would it be out of the norm (or not accepted) if you had one of your family members write a letter on your behalf to accommodate yours? Speaking to you working multiple jobs, assisting financially with the family and in other ways. A letter to verify essentially the contributions you make to your family. Also, in high school or whatever if you had a time period in which you didn't have such a heavy schedule but made better grades than what you are currently doing, you should mention that to let them know you are capable of a higher level and the schedule is what has deterred your normal level of academic performance.

Hopefully that helps a bit.

You might not need it, but it might not hurt you either. Although I tend to think only being .09 below what you needed with your GPA, you probably won't need to sell yourself too hard. Maybe a measure like I mentioned would only be needed if you required more understanding on their part.

Dear University of Nevada-Reno,
Recently I applied for admission for a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering to expand my education. Due to the minimum G.P.A. requirement, my admission was denied. Unfortunately, I was .09 short of the G.P.A. requirement. Although school is very important to me and my future, it was hard for me to maintain my G.P.A. because of other obligations. I have been working multiple jobs while pursuing my education at Truckee Meadows Community College. My mother is single, and to help her with the finances, I became the sole provider of the family. Due to this responsibility, it has been difficult to perform to the best of my ability in school. My education is very crucial to me and I understand that work is something I need to put aside. I find it imperative that I focus on my education, and therefore have decided to take out student loans and work only part-time so I can devote more time to school.

In my family, I am a first generation high school graduate. My goal is not only to be the first generation college graduate, my goal is also to graduate successfully.
