    Nintendo Revolution

Nintendo, the world leader in video game innovation, stated loud and clear that they are not to be overlooked in the next generation home console race with the revelation of several unique features of the company's next console system, code name Revolution, to key media outlets. According to the early information, Revolution will combine powerful technology and gaming-focused features in Nintendo's smallest home game console yet.

Each generation of video game consoles builds on the past to set new standards for the future. As the company with the strongest heritage of innovation, Nintendo redefines expectations for all next-gen systems by employing a wide-ranging strategy to attract more kinds of gamers to more kinds of games. When Nintendo’s new console, code-named Revolution, arrives in 2006, everyone will discover the meaning of All-Access Gaming.

If someone was smart, and I mean really ****ing smart, they'd make a console that can play games for any of the consoles out there.

(yeah yeah, I know no company would allow the licensing)

But, wouldn't that be cool. To play Metroid on your Xbox, and Halo on your Nintendo deck, or Knights of the Old Republic on your PS2.

BTW: I sure hope they change the shell design. That's pretty brutal, bland and boring if you ask me.

I think Nintendo is going to be the loser, because once again, you can't use the old system (GameCube's) small cds on this one, and you can use old PS2 and Xbox games on thier new ones.

Nintendo hasn't been the leader in video games in a decade. The only place they excel now is in handhelds.

Nintendo's legions of loyal fans will be happy to learn that Revolution will be backward compatible, playing both Nintendo GameCube 8cm disks along with its own 12cm optical disks in the same self-loading media drive.

    Taken from Nintendo's site^

But they will still lose this console war. XBOX is getting a ton of supporters with their strong online play and the PS3 looks flat out amazing from a tech standpoint. I really dont know if this Revolution will be able to surpass either on a tech level. We all know Nintendo has the best first party software, it's the lack of 3rd party that kills them (and complete lack of online play.) Hopefully those will be fixed.

Revolution will have free online play and also you will be able to download old nintendo games from older systems right to your Revolution, just Nintendo titles, no 3rd party games i heard

Nintendo owns Japan, the smaller size will even drive their sales there even higher i believe, Revolution is probably a bit bigger than a CD drive, thats small

and as mission said it will be backward compatible with the GC, unlike the x-box where they're only going to backward compatible with only a select number of top selling title

If that pic posted is real, this system looks better then the other 2. If they can make good quality games, I might just pick this up.

Yeah, unlike what they did from N64 to GameCube. Well, I guess they had to get rid of those cartridges somehow.
