Nothing doing here at UK of course. Not as much precip as up at home in Cincy and though getting colder and freezing up now, it's unlike we will even have a delay in the morning. Not one delay or closing this year. Apparently UK hasn't had a closing since 2003.

My elementary school-on district was also very strict about closing for snow until Dr. Schmidt, the former superintendent, retired. Of course it just happened a couple years ago after I had finished at the high school. He really cared about education a lot. We had 9 inches of snow one time and it was still snowing that morning of school and I don't think we even had a delay.

Read this ridiculous comment from the UK spokesman in our school newspaper on why they don't usually close the school (who I've talked to for other stories I've done for the paper):

"Cafeterias and other services have to remain open on snow days as well, Blanton added.

"All those facilities have to remain open," he said. "If those functions are open the institution stays open.""

What kind of logic is that??!!

I am loving it now, I'll be hating the drive when I have to go out.
I got the Day off on Thursday because of the Snow that fell in the UK so that was fun.

we got to start half-term early

Ha, very nice PadresfanUK and welcome to the site!

I did actually ended up getting another day off (the university closed for a half day, but my classes were all early ones so I lucked out) and it works out quite nicely as it's kind of related to our mid-term break as well. We have the day off in January for Martin Luther King day, but no breaks until mid-March or so which is our mid-term/spring break, so this was definitely a well needed break in between.
(So thanks for the prayer Haf. Ha.)

Last night, the college had just cancelled the 8 and 9 AM classes thinking they'd have the parking lot and the walkways sparkling clean in no time.

At 8:05 they cancelled for the day.

Also, my schedule works out similarly, mission - we get one day off in January and then nothing until spring break. Thankfully this snow came along and gave me a nice two days off to work on these papers.

Oh, you're certainly welcome. If you ever need another 3-year-old calibur prayer again let me know. 60% of the time, it works every time.
