60 gig. I was actually one of the few lucky enough to reserve a system a month or two in advance, a 20 gig, and while I knew the demand would be pretty intense, I never knew it would be at what it was. So once the launch happened, I saw a golden opportunity to recoup a large chunk of that large sum of change if I was able to pick up another one to keep. After two or three days of very limited sleep (I was studying for exams and hitting F5 on a few shopping forums with threads on PS3 availability, I finally had an order go through for a 60 gig by itself from Sony Style. We were able to sell the 20 gig for over $350 more than we paid for it, which was a happy tradeoff as it allowed me and the brother I was going in on the gift with to actually have more than a gift or two under the tree. Heh.

I gave my daugher a jogging stroller, my girlfirend a shadow box with a personalized name place with the words mother on it. My bro got a headset for his computer and my mom got a crystal heart with mom on it.

Yeah, it was a damn big year, I'm not particularly sure of the reason. Possibly extra available funds since college turned out to be cheaper than HS, possibly because I threw in my fair share for the rest of the family. It was absurd, I know. At least I admit it.

LMK how much difference the 60 gig is... I have a brand new unopened PS3 20 gig sitting here in my office... We lost about 40 bucks on three auctions on EBay. My wife set the reserve too high on the first one. The other two... nobody bid on... I am thinking about keeping it, but will probably have my wife take it back and say her husband only wanted a 60 gig...

Rough luck on the auctions man. I was scouting them and since I missed out on getting an auction first up after launch (as we didn't have the second one secured yet), I waited a bit for the market to go down with the number of PS3's available and got a bit lucky.

With the 20 gig vs the 60 gig though, the differences aren't huge, outside of the disk space. The 60 gig comes equipped out of the box to connect to wi-fi and has the ability to read various memory cards for digital cameras and such (from what I understand at least, as I don't have the equipment, I didn't research it too much.) But both of those are either upgradeable now or will be in the future based on what I read. The hd is also upgradeable (supposedly some have upgraded to a 120 gig hd for a $100 with relative ease.) I was personally fine with getting the 20 gig one since the only difference that is of any importance to me is the difference in space, which I could upgrade to something better for the cost once the warranty is expired. But with the nice profits from the auction, I figured why not. If you have wi-fi, or plan to get it in the future, I would go with the 60 gig as I don't know how easy that will be to upgrade.
