It's already been machine gunned by AL East opponents and self-inflicted Grandal-esque performance from Jade Graham.

I'm watching the Butterfly Effect 2. It's a crap movie, which is what I expect from a direct to DVD sequel with nobody from the 1st one. I only have it because it's on the same disc as the first one.

At any rate, naturally in the reality that the main character creates that gives him the promotion instead of the douchebag that fires him and his friend right before he lost his relationship, because if you take your job serious enough to get and maintain a promotion you become an asshole that can't maintain a relationship at home...and apparently an adulterer as well since he was sleeping with the boss's wife.

I hate those stupid animated menus a lot of fast food places keep putting in.

Why do I need to stand there and stare at someone cracking an egg or pouring a cup of coffee before I can see how much my Big Mac will cost?

I dislike how sentimental/suppose name value and what not makes someone think they can ask so much for a used guitar when the lines they've been replaced with indicate they aren't in the elite $4000+ model they think they have.

That and strings breaking when forget how to restring and tighten just a single turn of the tuner too much.

So I’m at McDonalds today and decided to time this crap while I was waiting.

There were four screens on the animated menu

    - one displaying special meal deals they have and prices.

    - a bunch of dipping sauces all over the screen and a hand comes in with a chicken nugget and dips it in one

    - a peppermint mocha late being poured

    - I forget the other but it basically amounted to a close up shot of some food item.

Each slide took 15 seconds for a one minute cycle.

So that’s basically a 15 second window every minute where you actually have useful information to read on the menu.

Fucking nerds. That reminds me of my favorite Jurgen Klinsmann story that came out after his hire as USMNT head coach was criticized.

Bayern president Uli Hoeness told the Donaukurier newspaper that the club "bought computers for thousands of (dollars)" because Klinsmann used powerpoint presentations to explain game plans to the players.

Bayern's current coach, Jupp Heynckes, needs five color markers and a flip chart to do the same, Hoeness said.

"With Heynckes, we win games for ($17.26), while we spent a lot of money under Klinsmann and had little success," Hoeness said.

I had no idea blind people were people too until someone wrote a story creating a situation that forces people with sight to operate blind, just like I had no idea deaf people were people too until someone wrote a horror story that creates a situation where people who can hear have to communicate without sound.

Signing fa sis a fraction of a gms job. Preller has signed 2 big contracts in his tenure, shields who brought the team tatis and hosmer who's played all of one season. He's also been in on pretty much every big name fa over the past couple of seasons and almost got a couple of those.

He's doing and outstanding overall job and has since he got here. He didn't make those big "splashy"trades in 14-15 because he wanted to make a name for himself, he did it because he was mandated by ownership to contend immediately. The players he acquired played well, but as the dodgers have shown, big names and big money don't always guarantee a ring.

He's built the system into a monster. He's trying to do the same with the ml team.

He's done pretty well on realizing a mistake (which everyone makes) and cutting bait while getting value in return (shield/tatis), (kimbrell/margot-logan allen)

he's exceptional at scopuring the waiver wire and turning castoffs into valuable pieces (hand/yates)

    he absolutely can evaluate talent.

And even though we all agree we'd rather have turner than myers, his trades have been generally successful. Turner and ross are proving to be excellent mlb players, but when they were traded turner was #4 in our system and barley at top 100 ml prospect (95) ross was our #16 and not on the radar league wide. People in here are advocating trade mejia for realmuto--mejia is our #3 and #26 in all of baseball, ranked higher than turner was--but that's ok, prospecting ranking isn't exact science.

Myers and castillo are on our ml roster and when healthy myers is the padres best offensive player. Castillo has developed into a excellent high leverage arm. Sure ross and turner as a pair are better right now, but mejia and whomever they send for realmuto might eventually be better than jt.

    Rodney for paddack
    alonzo for a espinoza
seth smith for estuary ruiz and strahm

cashner for naylor/capps (rea for l castillo overturned, but it was a done deal if rea had been healthy)

benoit got us a year of galvis

we can debate this all day long but the bottomline is that the padres organization as a whole is light years better off now, with preller, than it was before he got here and is positioned to be the best it's ever been in its history should even half these guys in the system pan out.

Please excuse my long winded response when all i wanted to really say is--i couldn't disagree with you more if i tried when it comes to preller and the job he has/is doing
It's impossible to have a discussion with Padres fans about team building without them bringing up the Dodgers as an example how not to run their team. I mean, he's right in the sense that the Padres can't and shouldn't spend above their means to chase a ring, but that's probably giving him too much credit. Didn't the "same old Dodgers" just make it to the World Series in 2017 for the first time in 30 years and again in 2018 for the second consecutive time, which they hadn't done in 40 years? And I'm still waiting for Friedman to acquire the proverbial big name player signed to big money.

Don't worry, Harper will be signing in LA eventually. And then you'll tell us how that's going to ruin the Dodgers.

Re: The grinds my gears thread

It's like SD fans with the little brother syndrome don't actually respect the Dodgers for making the WS on the backs of wholesome homegrown players and retreads in free agency who suddenly become superstars any more than they would if the Dodgers were to succeed riding a bunch of Kevin Browns, Jason Schmidts, Andruw Joneses, Juan Pierres, etc etc. Haters will always hate.
