Why do new shoes always come with shoelaces that are 10 times longer than they need to be?

A Matt Kemp or Hanley Ramirez Dodgers jersey still having to cost $184.97 in a clearance sale.

The type I'm ranting about here are the ones you see that are painfully obviously about a specific circumstance involving a specific individual (or individuals) addressed to the general public for some odd reason.

This is extra annoying because most of the time it's before a music video, movie clip, or some other kind of content the uploader doesn't own.

My argument is that this is likely the case, or at least highly perpetuated by the fact that these people only hear nothing but bad stuff about each candidate.

Nobody has any idea what good (if any) either party brings to the table because nobody knows. They only know from the other side, via twisted rhetoric and political logic twisting, how bad the other guy is.

And, again, media campaigning is only a minute fraction of the problem today. With the explosion of social networking (namely Facebook) you see the same problem coming from every other one of your friends who prefer to push that link explaining why Obama is the reason for the economic downfall or why Mitt Romney hates the poor and is only hoping to use the White House as a way to make his rich buddies richer instead of telling us what's good about who they want to vote for.

I'm not naive enough to think that more viable parties would rid this completely, but it would at least make it harder to ignore your own candidate and what good they bring if taking the negative approach means convincing people why more than just one other person is bad.
And sure enough here we have someone thoroughly explaining why he doesn't want to vote primarily because of the asinine argument tactics used that we've grown used to in politics.

So, do I have it right that that clown doesn't want to vote because of people on Facebook? I have a a circle that is diverse in their views, so what? I vote how I vote, they vote how they vote, no one has to ask and no has to tell if they don't want to get into a debate on how they voted. When people push me about it, I just say you go into a booth or behind a curtain for a reason, it's private, what happens in the voting booth stays in the voting booth.

In my personal view though you can gripe to me or gloat at me all day about the candidates or anyone elected as long as you VOTED, if you didn't even bother, to get your ass there then I don't give a crap what good or bad things you have to say about any of them.

I'm not sure if he seriously doesn't want to vote or if he's just saying that in the title to drive home the theme of the article.

I don't let it stop me from voting but everything he says in the article is spot on.

Matt Harvey's nickname being The Dark Knight.

I thought Harvey was the White Knight of Gotham in the movie?

Re: The grinds my gears thread

I am a little irritated by the people complaining about the people complaining about the order not being given by the President to lower flags to half staff in the aftermath of the Chattanooga shootings.

The precedent was set when it was done for Ft. Hood, the Washington Navy Yard as well as Virginia Tech, Boston, Aurora, Sandy Hook and other incidents. For some reason this one is being left out and those questioning why are being blasted. It is a valid question, I was told directly that this incident was "apples and oranges" yet when I asked what the difference was between this one and Ft. Hood/Washington, it was the old "let's agree to disagree" or getting cussed out. So, what IS the difference? The victim count, too low? Location of the incident? Background of the shooter? "Workplace violence" or "crazy lone nut" classification as opposed to possibly victims of "lone wolf terrorist"? Though that should have left out the Boston victims shouldn't it?

However, I guess some will be irritated about my complaining about the complainers of those complaining.

Don't let those being irritated by that bog you down. People complaining about people complaining about people complaining about people complaining about that order not being given is what grinds my gears.

Re: The grinds my gears thread

I wasn't surprised by a few that came at me, though they are friends, they are Obama supporters so they have issues with anything that questions his actions or non-actions. However, one is a vet that is bitter about his service in Vietnam and the other a military wife viewing the issue as using the death of the soldiers as a political prop. My brother was in Vietnam and I have multi generations of military in my family that while they faced perils were never bitter or felt used even if they may not have completely agreed with the policies of the wars.

I believe, with the exception of Fort Hood, all of the other incidents you mention involved civilian casualties, as compared to military members in the line of service. I'm not stating an opinion on the non-order, just observing. I'm not sure if Chattanooga was technically "in the line of service," so someone better versed will have to help me out here.

Also, the WH Press Secretary anticipated Obama discussing the flag being lowered or not at an event Tuesday I think.
