Re: The grinds my gears thread
I can see that on some occasions, but often it comes off more to me as "I/we are just stating our opinions so you're out of line for arguing against them".
Something along the lines of
Person A: I think this!
Me: Actually, I don't think that is correct because...
Person A: No, you're wrong because...
Me: Perhaps, but...
Person A: Hey, I'm just expressing my opinion here!
Re: The grinds my gears thread
I read that as...
Person A : Charlie Whitehurst is better than Phillip Rivers!
Leo : That's not right because Whitehurst sucks...
Person A : No he doesn't! Look at that beard!
Leo : Well, yeah, but what does that have to do with playing quarterback?
Person A : Just expressing my opinion!

That's pretty much what I just said. Either A) something unpopular and/or B) forcefully convince you but they don't want to seem like an intolerant jackass.

Perhaps you've forgotten some of the political and religious (ahem) "discussions" with certain people at TNFLF and PoW who were very adamant with their "opinions" and if they didn't agree with yours, YOU were wrong, stupid, a nazi, etc.
While you have the proper mindset that opinions vary and we all have the right to ours, there are plenty of people out there on the interwebs that feel otherwise.

Reds "fans" who got hunting for reasons to trash our best players for stupid reasons.
Example There is a Red fan who compared Joey Votto to Mark Grace. And others who argue that Brandon Phillips is better because of (of all stats) RBIs.

Brandon Phillips, fucking lol.
Re: The grinds my gears thread
People at work (and other public places) who get uppity when they have to listen to other people talk about sports.
They act like it's a huge bother because they have to listen to a group of people go on about sports all the time, and then go on discussing what brand of shoes they were looking at the other day with their friends.
I get complaints about volume, but that's never it. It's always the subject matter they complain about.

I swear, everytime it storms here half of this state acts like they've never seen rain before even though we're right in the middle of tornado alley.

You should see rain driving in this state. You'd think they have NEVER seen rain. Ha.
Re: The grinds my gears thread
People at work who talk endlessly about their personal life, but complain when anyone else talks about theirs.
Re: The grinds my gears thread
You can find just about everything on the internet these days and the phones on my shared account are easily connected to this internet, yet people still call 411 to find numbers and add $1.99 to the bill each time. :norvpalm:

When somebody calls from an unknown number and doesn't leave a voicemail.

Keep calm and watch Leo grind his gears...
