    And that grinds my gears.

If you use your debit card anywhere else it shows the exact amount in your online bank account, but not gas pumps.

They only show 1 dollar and wait until it clears to display the entire amount.

Perhaps it's the bank you have or if you go over a certain amount because mine always shows the exact amount. The pumps here say if you go over a certain amount ($50 or $75, I can't remember because I never go over it), you'll have to swipe the card again. I've never had it show only $1 with my debit card for anything.

I've had $1 temp charges on credit cards when they test to make sure it's a valid card. The only issue I've ever had with my debit card is when some restaurants put in your temp charge as the full price with a specified tip (usually different from what I actually paid) and it will take 3 days to correct itself. Example:

Many times we'll leave a cash tip when paying with a card, but they'll put it in as meal + tip even though I write in the total (with no tip on the slip because we leave it at the table) at the bottom.

Re: The grinds my gears thread

Jokes in emails where they put a bunch of space before the punchline, usually adding in "You're gonna love this!" "wait for it!!" "this is going to be good" and a bunch of images of laughing smileys and things of that sort before you scroll to the punchline.

Just tell me the joke and let me decide for myself if it's funny or not. Don't tell me I'm going to love it, the fact that you think I'm going to love it is a given because you forwarded the joke to me.

And I don't need to see a picture of a mouse or some other animal laughing before or after the punchline. That doesn't make the joke any more or less funny.

Some of the best jokes I've seen in emails are almost ruined by this superfluous nonsense.

Message boards that make you jump through excessive hoops before you can post.

I understand you're trying to prevent spam, but I think making me type in the CAPTCHA and answering a simple question and then having to open my email account and click on a link should be sufficient.

But some boards do not and make you then have to wait for a moderator to manually activate your account.

Then there's other forums that don't even stop there and refuse to allow free email accounts to register.

People whose names have apostrophes in them when they're totally unnecessary. When did Amar'e Stoudemire suddenly start to spell his name with an apostrophe? And Mo'Nique? Really?

I think someone changed my saying under my name to "don't drink and drive" I mighty good move I think.

What grinds my gears is that I was drunk last night, and I could have changed it myself I just don't remember doing that. I hate that. Thankfully we didn't have a thread about Porter so I can post random stuff about the what not as I have done in the past.

People who call each other "bro." I hope they realize that they're actually calling each other a manziere.

Facebook statuses with this symbol at the bottom. (meaning it's a status copied from "status shuffle")

It's not witty if somebody else came up with it for you and you just cut and pasted it.

I noticed when we went away from the set up where we edited the user title under our name in posts and back to where it was edited in the UserCP mine went back to whatever it was I had at the last time it was edited via UserCP. (as opposed to the most recent one I had edited in)

That probably was the case with Foster.

Don't know how I missed this thread, you guys are a riot!

I guess "grind your gears" is more of a male phrase, I call them pet peeves but I have a few to start.

Those that don't seem to know the difference between your and you're, a typo once in the post or misspoken once in a conversation is not a big deal but multiple times?

In line ordering and someone ahead in the line is asking the service person to hang on a minute because they are talking on their cell.

A group of people that stop dead at the bottom of an escalator or stairwell at a packed event........to chat.
