HAHA, that happened to me once. So when I called after a week had gone by, they said the girl that hires was on vacation. The next day, that "girl on vacation" who sounded a lot like the one I had talked to me the day before, called and gave me the job.

If I didn't want the job so much I wouldn't have taken it.

Commercials that parody campaign ads by saying "I'm (insert name) and I approve this message. Its ****ing dumb and pointless in campaign ads and twice as bad in non-campaign ads!! Get real, get original!

When people try to make a distinction between a "hall of famer" and a "1st ballot hall of famer".

You're either a hall of famer or you're not.

agreed completely. unfortunately the writers do it and there's nothing we can do about it cuz it's what they say goes

What the writers do has no bearing on my personal opinion, nor should it yours.

It has no bearing whatsoever on my opinion. But unfortunately it has all the bearing on who gets in to the hall. and like it or not, a lot of writers refuse to vote for a guy who's not Ricky Henderson/Mickey Mantle type on their first year of eligibility

When a poster on a sports forum approaches a question in regards to a retiring sports player's potential hall of fame status from a viewpoint of whether or not they think they will get in, as opposed to whether or not they think they should get in.

I want to know what you think, not what you think the BBWA (or equivalent for other sports) thinks.

Who cares what their directives are, though?

These debates aren't going to get anyone in the HOF and they're not going to deny anyone from it.

Tell me what you think, not what they think.

Re: The grinds my gears thread

I think I would decide if a guy is HoF worthy on his first year, and then vote for him every year of his eligibility, regardless of how strong the year's class is or whether I think he's a "first ballot guy" (which is a stupid concept).

I think Jeff Kent is HoF worthy. Therefore I'd vote for him until either he got in or until his 15 years were up.

The idea that Jeff Kent belongs in the Hall of Fame.

When you hear the name, it strikes you as not deserving. The stats only further the point.

    I have two:
Fools who think a guy who played second base for 16 seasons is not a second baseman and that a .02 difference in fielding percentage and league fielding percentage makes that player below average when all other defensive measures have him above league average. The fact that he never had to switch positions in his career tells you he was above average or else he would have been moved. No hard to figure out. Stats when used correctly for HOF voting further prove the point that Kent BELONGS in the Hall in which he will get in and its not really a debate. I guess the vast majority of baseball fans grind Dry's gears

When you don't post for a an entire weekend and come in to find that 90% of the unread posts belong to the sim leagues. Does no one talk baseball when I leave?

When you hold an elevator for someone who's walking towards it, and they don't react, don't thank you, and don't try to walk any faster....they take their sweet ass time getting there....only to find out they're going from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor...

Movie titles with the producer's name in it. (Tyler Perry, ex)

Just give me a movie title. Don't be so full of yourself that you have to have your name in all the titles.

Classes that require no note taking whatsoever.

Yes, I know those seem like the best classes, but they get me so paranoid that I'm doing something wrong. Especially the one I'm in right now, because I'm clearly not taking great notes....
