Oh you got some time than. I am in Hampton, VA right now near a Naval base is pretty close in Norfolk. One of the ships deployed this week I believe. What do they do on deployments?
For me my dad was enlisted in the AF and I knew I wanted to follow in one of my parents footsteps but I would have to have a degree in order to work for the Federal Bureau of Prisons and have a decent job. So I decided to join the AF 3 months have I graduate from HS. I have been in 3 years in September and I have been deployed once to Iraq. About 17 years left.

Go to important areas of the world to "display power" and support Aircraft Carriers that shoot airplanes off to "patrol" amongst other things if needed...
in between go to various "port stops" in countries along the way, and even a couple around said important areas.
The two deployments I went on we went to the Persian Gulf.
I've been to Hawaii (5 times), Singapore (twice), Dubai - U.A.E. (4 times), Bahrain (twice), Guam, Hong Kong, Kualar Lumpar - Malaysia, and Perth - Australia.

Sweet. I was overseas in Holland in the early 90's but I was only 10 at the time.I want to go to Italy since I never been there. My wife is not ready to go overseas right now so that will be put on hold.

Pretty much what Leo said, fighting along in the Global War on Terror.
My dad was in the Navy for 25 years, did 10 deployments, so much of that is why I wanted to become an officer. Though instead of steering ships, I would like to fly instead. Nothing against surface people, flying has been something I wanted to persue for a while.
