I know these posting games are addicting and there really is no way to try to prevent others from posting there. I really haven't looked thoroughly on the reputation because we're not use to it. I hope we'll use the reputation. That way, others wouldn't have to look at their post count.

click on that to give user rep points

the more rep points you have, the bigger your e-pen0r is.

    thats my guess
i'm scraped and sober but there's no one listening

while I don't think post counts should be turned off..

but is there a way to limit posting to one post per minute in that forum?

its kinda sad to see some people with 200 + or even 400 posts already and we havne't even been live for a week...

and most of them are in post padding games..
    Nobody lookin out for nobody
Maybe we should try and help somebody or be somebody
Instead of being somebody that makes the news
So everybody can tweet about it
And then they start to R.I.P. about it
And four weeks later nobody even speaks about it.

it's all about the rep power.

That's why I love that feature. It doesn't matter how many posts someone has, it's how much rep power they have.

My only thing is, I wish the rep power was readily viewable, rather than having to click on the scales to see it....some people will never realize the feature exsists because of having to click on it.

That and being told I can't give more rep power to someone who I already gave some to because I have to "spread some reputation around first"
If I think a good post should increace a poster's reputation power, it shouldn't matter that I already gave him some earlier.

I clicked on the scale and it asks me to rate you..

and I clicked on a scale on my own post, and it tells me I have 10 rep points.. don't really get how it works quite yet.

that's basically how it works. YOu like a post you click on the scale of that post and "approve it"

you don't like it, you click on the scale and "disaprove" it.

You're indifferent? Then don't rate it

    comments are optional.

I'm assuming you either start with 10 or maybe we automatically get 10 just for being mods? I don't know, I have 10 also, but I individually checked all my posts out of curiosity and all of them said the "rep power" for the post itself was even.

Weird, so it looks like you can't view other people's rep points, but you can view yours if someone rated your post. Sounds like something that could be abused! haha

You give rep to others. Not to yourself. Your rep will be listed in your UserCP if you have it set up to do so, where you can see your last 10 or so reps that people have given you.

Rep works by giving rep (postive points) to another poster for what you consider to be a quality post. Whether that be an explanation to a question you have or a 10 paragraph diatribe on why the yankees suck. It's at your own discretion for the most part but can be a good way of gauging other's posts and posting quality by the rep that they carry.

( I don't know if that answers your question or not ).

yeah, I think it needs to be adjusted so that you can view other people's rep power...otherwise it's kinda pointless.

I'd also like to see the number readily displayed.

    But I love the concept

yep, they are optional, but it's something that I -always- do. Getting rep and not knowing how some felt about it is kind of weird. Sometimes I leave 3 words and a smilie, other times I've left about 15-20 word (not normally, but it happens).

yea, I know how to read my own rep points, didn't know about the userCP part though.

My question was about viewing other people's rep.. or does it just go by the bar under your post count?

rep power is listed in thenflforums...so it is possible to make it readily viewable

You see people's rep power on thenflforums, so I assume it's set up the same here (although not positive yet).

Also, as you get more rep yourself, you are able to give more rep. So, if you look at thenflforums, when I give someone rep now, they get like 115 rep points, vs if Kobe gives someone rep over there, his rep is worth like 6 (just guessing, haven't looked specifically on it). The more you post, the higher your points go up too (but it's gotta be a lot, not just a handful). As I give someone rep points on that forum, their own rep value goes up. Back to the same example, if Kobe's rep is worth 6 pts right now, if -I- give him rep for something, he'll suddenly be worth like 8 or so, just becuase of the amount of rep he got from me.

It's kind of convaluted, but as you use it, it becomes clearer. Your points go up for every 100 or so rep points you get. First it's like every 10 points and then 100 (depending on how it's all set up).

Now, that I have you confused, you are on your own.
