Rangers tried to trade Soriano, but to who??

The report states the Twins claimed Soriano to block a trade to another team and the clubs do not expect to make a deal.

I wonder who the Rangers were trying to deal him to...back to the Yanks? It must have been an AL team or the Twins probably wouldn't have blocked it.

The Rangers and the Twins have 48 hours to work out a deal. Should the clubs not come to an agreement by Monday, the Rangers can pull him back or let him go to the Twins. If he is pulled back, Soriano cannot be traded for the rest of the season.

It's expected that a deal won't be worked out, but if the Rangers wanted to, they could just let him go

Rangers deny trade rumors

"There is no trade or pending trade despite reports to the contrary and we expect him to be here this year and at a minimum, next year," Rangers assistant general manager Jon Daniels said. "Since we acquired him from the Yankees, there has been endless speculation about where he might be headed. We have been consistent in saying that he is a piece of the puzzle we are putting together."

"I'm confused. There are a lot of players on this team, but it's always my name that keeps coming up. Nobody asks about trading for them? Do they like me here?" Soriano said. "The truth is, I gain nothing about thinking about being traded if it's not going to happen. If you are going to trade me, trade me and we go on."

I'd be frustrated too, especially since he is a significantly better hitter in Arlington than out of it.

Although too bad the Twins wanted so much for Liriano in the Soriano deal, since he has some purely amazing stuff from what I saw on a televised AA game. Insane.
