Laynce Nix out for the season

Laynce Nix said Saturday he will have season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum his right shoulder next week.

Losing Nix's lack of production and astonishingly bad K/BB rate (41 BB, 211 K over his career) aren't exactly bad. However, the Rangers starting CF is going to be Gary Matthews Jr.? Well, way to put a damper on the bottom of a potent lineup. Ouch.

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.

That kinda sucks. Not a big blow though.

Hmmm. Maybe they will go after a CF now. You can't stay with Gary Matthews Jr.

Down in Kokomo, where we'll get there fast and then we'll take it slow.

Sadly, for the Rangers (and Nix) Matthews is an upgrade with the bat. Nix posted terrible numbers no matter how you look at it. I am surprised that the Rangers didn't stick him in AAA months ago to find whatever is wrong with his swing and mechanics. He's not a superstar but then again, he's not that bad.

Look for the Rangers to hit the CF martket soon. Who would be a good fit in their lineup?
