    Rangers Lewis out for year

Colby Lewis will require season-ending surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow.
The procedure will be performed later this week. It's much better than Tommy John surgery, but it's still obviously a big blow to a Rangers team that will almost surely look to acquire a frontline starter now. It's not clear at this point whether Lewis will be ready for spring training next year or if his rehab will take longer than that.
This should force the Rangers hand in trading for another starter. Lewis was one of their better pitchers with a 3.43 ERA and a K/BB of 93/14. Greinke has been rumored so we'll have to wait and see.

Perhaps the toughest part about losing Lewis is that he has been great in the postseason.

Similar to the torn ACL's in the NFL last season
