Melissa Segura of Sports Illustrated reports that the Rangers have signed Dominican outfielder Ronald Guzman to a $3.5 million contract.
Never shy about spending money on top Latin talent, the Rangers are doing it again this year, having shelled out a record $5+ million for Nomar Mazara and now $3.5 million on Guzman. Ranked by Baseball America as the No. 2 Latin American prospect available, Guzman, 16, is a left-handed hitter that has above-average power potential and also gets high marks for makeup and instinct.
The Rangers have been doing well in the Latin market it seems. He's 16 so anything can happen between now and the time he's ready to contribute but being the #2 Latin prospect has to mean something, right?
