Rangers Cruz trying to avoid DL

"Outfielder Nelson Cruz said he saw consistent and significant improvement in his tight right quadriceps muscle after coming out of Tuesday's game, but it's still too early to determine if he can avoid a trip to the disabled list.

The Rangers are in a delicate position with Cruz. They intend to proceed with caution, but are also already lacking some offensive firepower because of the absence of Josh Hamilton. A year ago, Cruz tried to avoid the DL by resting off and on for a week while dealing with an early season hamstring strain. Not only did he still eventually land on the DL, but he also ended up being assigned there three times with recurring hamstring issues."

This is not good news for the Rangers with Hamilton already out right now. Like the article said, it's a tough spot for the Rangers because if he has to hit the DL.. they are really going to be suffering for a real potent bat.

Tough situation for Washington and the Rangers.

Another reason why keeping Young was a smart play for the Rangers.
