Steve Phillips of AOL Fanhouse reports that the Rangers have reached a one-year deal with reliever Arthur Rhodes.
The contract, according to Phillips, will also contain a vesting option for the 2012 season. The left-handed Rhodes posted a fantastic 2.29 ERA and 1.02 WHIP over 69 relief appearances for the Reds this past year and should do just as well as a left-handed specialist and setup man in Texas. The guy turned 41 on October 24, but he still has the goods.
The Rangers get their lefty but its just not the one anyone really wanted. Rhodes did a great job last year and even got awarded with his first All Star nod. He's no stranger to the AL so he should do well helping setup whoever the Rangers closer will be. I was surprised he didn't return to the Reds.
