Rangers SP Prospect To Miss '09 Season

Rangers pitching prospect Eric Hurley is expected to miss the 2009 season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and frayed labrum in his right shoulder.
Rotator cuff and labrum damage is the worst possible combination for a pitcher and will likely be tougher to come back from than Tommy John elbow surgery. Hurley made his MLB debut as a 22-year-old and looked like a long-term No. 3 starter in the making, but is now out for 2009 and a major question mark beyond that.
Why can't this team ever get pitching? They never go out and sign good quality pitchers and when they draft them well, they get hurt. I truly hope the Rangers get Ben Sheets to give them a punter's chance. The Rangers have the offense to compete but have no pitching. Much like the Rays for all those years.

They have a great "hitter's park". Pitchers don't really like pitching in the Texas heat. They tend to wear down as the season progresses. The Rangers also have had some of the worst luck in the history of the bigs when it comes to pitchers getting injured.
All of this said, I hope the kid makes a full recovery. His stuff is said to be electric.
