    Player HR Derby

The guy I would like to see do it the most in baseball right now would be none other than Josh Hamilton. Anyone think he has a shot?

#21 for Hamilton last night. If it wasn't for Rangers not usually doing well in the derby, I would think he had a chance.

I didn't get to see the derby last night, I was taking an exam , but from the highlights Hamilton looked amazing. There ain't no way Morneau should have won that thing. Twenty-eight in the first round is just sick. At least Hamilton put himself in the record books last night. Not only for the most homeruns in a round, but also as the 2nd player to hit the most homeruns total but still lose the derby.

    Re: HR Derby

Of course Morneau deserved to win, he won. Hamilton knew that this was more about putting on a show for the fans vs winning something that has no impact on his career so he went full out in the first round. If he would have stopped at around 12 and paced himself, he would be the champ.

Hammy put on the best show and that will be remembered. Five years from now people will remember Hamilton's first round and not Morneau winning it in the end.
(I am not saying Morneau had some grand plan to win that involved pacing himself.)
