After splitting a four game set against the Twins in Minnesota to kick off the road trip, the Rangers improved to 3-2 during the trip in a series opening win over the Cleveland Indians.

Niether of each team's starters made it past the 3rd inning with Kason Gabbard giving up 6 runs through 2 2/3rds innings, and Indians starter Fausto Carmona also giving up 6 runs over 2 innings of work. The Rangers pen was a little bit better allowing 3 runs over the remaining 6 1/3rd innings, but they hammered the Indians pen for 7 more runs.

The offensive highlights for the Rangers were Saltamacchia hitting a 3rd inning grand slam against Jorge Julio, part of a seven run 3rd for Texas. Milton Bradley doubled twice and scored two runs. David Murphy had three hits, three runs scored, three RBI and hit his 19th double of the year. Chris Shelton walked three times, scored twice, and drove in a pair of runs. Ramon Vazquez also pitched in 3 hits and a couple of RBI.

The Rangers went on to win 13-9 and pull to a .500 record for the 2nd time in a week.
