Game 1 Matchup
Hughes: Made his big league debut last Thursday against the Blue Jays and it did not go very well. The Jays hit Hughes for 4 runs on 7 hits over 4.1 innings. He did show some promise walking only 1 and striking out 5 however.
Loe: After pitching 5.1 scoreless innings in his first start of the season, Kameron was lit up for 6 runs over 5.1 last time out against the Indians. He is now 1-1 with a 5.06 ERA as a starter this season, and has struggled in his career against the Yankees going 1-3 with a 7.62 ERA in 4 games against them.
Game 2 Matchup
Pettitte: Pettitte has been one of the Yankees best starters so far in his return to the Bronx. He has pitched 30 innings so far with an impressive 3.00 ERA. He was roughed up by the Red Sox in his last outting though allowing 5 runs over 4.2 innings. This start will snap a 3 start streak against the Red Sox for Pettitte.
Tejeda: Robinson has been the ace of the Rangers staff, and really their only effective start so far, winning 3 games with a solid 3.82 ERA. He pitched well enough to win against the Blue Jays last time out giving up 3 runs over 5.1 innings for the win and struck out 7. As a starter in his career, Tejeda has gone 11-9 with a 3.32 ERA.
Game 3 Matchup
Mussina: Mike hasn't pitched since he threw 2 scoreless innings in Minnesota on April 11th, and has only pitched 6 innings total this season. The Rangers may catch him at a good time since he hasn't pitched in nearly 3 weeks. He was very good against Texas in 2006 though going 2-0 with a 3.15 ERA in 3 starts against them.
Millwood: Kevin is still looking to get his season on track after a rocky start against the Blue Jays time out where he gave up 5 runs on 8 hits over 5.2 innings. Although he did strike out 8 Toronto batters in that start. In 6 career starts against the Yankees Millwood is 1-4 with a 4.82 ERA.
