    Rangers @ Mariners (April 13th-15th)

    Game 1 Matchup
Kevin Millwood (1-1, 4.91 ERA) vs. Jarrod Washburn (0-0, 3.00 ERA)
    9:05 PM central on My27

    Game 2 Matchup
Vicente Padilla (0-2, 6.94 ERA) vs. Miguel Batista (0-1, 15.43 ERA)
    2:55 PM central on FOX

    Game 3 Matchup
Brandon McCarthy (1-1, 3.75 ERA) vs. Horacio Ramirez (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
    3:05 PM central on My27

    Game 1 Matchup
Millwood: Kevin pitched a decent game his last time out, against the Red Sox, going 6 innings allowing 3 runs and picking up his first win of the season. In 6 starts against Seattle in 2006 Millwood went 3-2 with a 3.79 ERA and is 5-3 with a 3.65 ERA in 9 career starts against the Mariners.

Washburn: In his first start of the season, against Oakland, on April 3rd Washburn gave up just 2 earned runs over 6 innings but ended up with a no decision.

    Game 2 Matchup
Padilla: After being rocked for 6 runs in his first start, Padilla settled down last time out going 7 innings allowing just 3 runs on 4 hits, although he still took a loss. He has struggled against Seattle in his career going 1-3 with a 5.74 ERA but went 1-0 with a 3.65 ERA against them in 2006.

Batista: In his only start of the season Batista was hammered by Oakland for 8 runs on 10 hits over 4.2 innings, although he did manage to strike out 5 batters.

    Game 3 Matchup
McCarthy: Brandon is coming off his best start of the season allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings and picking up his first win as a Ranger. McCarthy has only faced Seattle twice in his career, both times as a reliever, going 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA.

Ramirez: Will be making his first official start of the season. At least that is what he must be hoping right now after he pitched 4 innings in his previous start against Cleveland but was cancelled due to the field being covered in snow.

It'd be nice to get another good start out of McCarthy...

I see no reason why he shouldn't turn out his 3rd QS of the year. He was solid in his first start and excellent (by Ballpark in Arlington standards) in his 2nd start. So far it's looking like trading Danks was a good move. If he can just keep it going.

    Game 1 Recap
The Rangers got back to their winning way notching their 5th win in their last 7 games in a 5-2 victory over the Mariners Friday night.

Kevin Millwood made the start for Texas and nearly dominated allowing just 1 run over 6 innings to improve to 2-1 on the season and lower his ERA to 3.71. Washburn pitched decently for Seattle allowing 3 earned runs over 6 innings but took the loss.

The game was scoreless until the Rangers put 2 runs on the board in the 3rd to take a 2-0 lead. They added 2 more runs off of Washburn in the 5th thanks to a 2-out, 2-run homerun from Ian Kinser, his 5th dinger of the year. That put Texas up 4-0. In the 6th inning the Mariners finally got some scoring going. They put 1 run across against Millwood in the 6th and Millwood was pulled after he finished the inning. Joaquin Benoit relieved him in the 7th and Seattle got one more run off of him to make it a 4-2 game. Aki Otsuka pitched a scoreless 8th and Eric Gagne, in his first appearance of the season, struck out 1 in a scoreless 9th for his first save as a Ranger and his 2nd save in the last 22 months. Matt Kata also hit his first homerun of the season in the 9th to make it a 5-2 Texas lead.

I missed recapping yesterday's game, but there isn't much to report besides Sammy Sosa's 2nd homerun of the year. Seattle won 8-3 leaving Texas looking for a win today to take the series.

That isn't looking too good either. Currently heading to the bottom of the 3rd and Seattle leads 6-2 thanks in part to a Jose Vidro 3-run homerun.
