Here we are nearing the end of the season. It is now down the final series, and the Rangers need a sweep to finish with a winning season at 82-80. Although at this point I would settle for a 2-1 series to at least finish at .500.

Vicente Padilla will be gunning for a career high 15th win tonight.
Game 2 start Kevin Millwood is 3-1 in 5 starts against Seattle this year.
Game 3 starter Robinson Tejeda is also 4-1 with a 2.01 ERA over his last 8 starts.

That looks like the making of a season ending sweep to me.

Felix will win his last start.

Other than that its going to be a long season ending series.

Going up against Millwood, I wouldn't be so sure.

Hernandez is 1-3 with a 6.59 ERA in 5 starts against Texas this year, compared to Millwood who is 3-1 with a 3.66 ERA against Seattle. In Hernandez best start against Texas he didn't even pitch 6 innings.

Not trying to burst your bubble, just trying to float mine.

    Game 1 Recap
The Mariners jumped out to an early lead against Padilla thanks to a 2-run homerun from Adrian Beltre. They added 1 more in the 3rd to take a 3-0 lead before the Rangers finally got the bats going. Texas went on to score a total of 6 runs through the 4th and 7th innings, including 3 runs in the 6th. Padilla allowed 1 more run in the 6th before being pulled, but it was a good enough outting for him to notch his career high 15th win of the year. The Rangers lead 6-4 going into the 9th when Raul Ibanez homered off of Wes Littleton, but the rally wasn't enough as the Mariners fell 6-5 in the opening game of the final series of the season.

Game Note: Michael Young twice to give him 52 doubles on the season. That broke Juan Gonzalez's former single season record of 50 doubles set during his MVP season in 1998.

    Game 2 Recap
So much for a winning season for the Rangers. Millwood pitched a solid game but was outdueled by King Felix. Hernandez allowed only 1 run on 4 hits over 7 innings to go to 12-14 on the season. The only run the Rangers scored was on Mark Teixeira's 33rd homerun of the year, a 7th inning solo shot. Michael Young was held hitless, 0 for 4, effectively ending his bid for a career high in hits this season.
