    Michael Young 200 Hit Watch

After his 2 for 4 performance in Sunday nights 3-0 win over the A's, Young is now 27 hits shy of his 4th straight 200 hit season.

I'll be monitoring his push for his first 100 RBI season in this thread as well. He also got his 84th RBI of the season in last night's game so only needs 16 more to set a new career high.

Michael Young also has 45 doubles this season. The 4th highest single season total by any Ranger behind Juan Gonzalez (50), Rafael Palmeiro (49) and Ivan Rodriguez (47).

Its somewhat disappointing that his HR total has dropped significantly in favor of doubles.

Especially after consecutive 20+ homerun seasons that is kind of disappointing, but he is getting the job done in every other aspect. If he can hit 3 or 4 more in September, like he has the last 2 months, he could still finished with 15-18 homeruns which is a pretty decent total for a middle infielder. Not too far off of his power numbers from the last 2 years.

In today's 4-2 win over the Mariners, Young went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI.

    Hit Count: 193
    RBI Count: 88
    2B Count: 48

    Goals: 7 Hits, 12 RBI, 3 Doubles

Note: Young came into the day tied with Ichiro and Jeter for the MLB lead in hits with 190. Ichiro and Jeter each went 2 for 4 so Young now has a 1 hit lead over them for the MLB hits lead.

Yep, I was just going to update this now. Very good game for Young. If he wasn't a lock before he sure is now.

Anyway, Young went 2 for 4 with his 13th homerun and an RBI in tonight's 3-2 loss to the Tigers.

    Hit Count: 195
    RBI Count: 89
    2B Count: 48

    Goals: 5 Hits, 11 RBI, 3 Doubles

If people are willing to give Jeter MVP love, Young deserves just as much... His numbers are similiar to Jeter's. Young problem is he doesnt play in NY. Not trying to tick Yankee fans off here. But Young and Jeter are pretty the same type and caliber player. GREAT players!!!!!!

If Texas was winning their is no question Young would be getting a little bit of MVP discussion. As it is, the Rangers have very little chance and the Yankees are the best team in the American League, largely in part due to Jeter. Young's numbers don't quite compare to Jeter in terms of BA, OBP, Runs scored, or stolen bases either. Plus Jeter is probably going to win his 3rd straight gold glove this year too.

Oh, and btw, we don't need Ohka that bad. ;D

I agree that their numbers dont match up, but what I was trying to say is that they are both in the same type of mold... Not going to produce the big HR numbers... But the both seem to be involved in the game when it matters the most.. And yes, I agree with you about Young not going to the playoffs hurt him too, I was just stating that they are similiar in the way the produce for their respected team...
