He's was lights out in his start with AAA, so hopefully it translates to more success this time around.

We got a real pitcher's duel going on in tonights game. The 3rd inning just finished and both teams are still hitless. Both Tejeda and Robertson have 3 K's in 3 perfect innings.

Mark Teixeira leads off the 5th inning with his 20th homerun of the year. That is the first hit of the game for either team and give Texas a 1-0 lead. Tejeda still has a perfect game going through 4 innings.

An error by Omar Infante allowed Michael Young to get on base and Jerry Hairston to score to make it 2-0 Texas. Carlos Lee followed with a sac fly that scored Gary Matthews from 3rd to make it 3-0 Rangers.

Tejeda with the shutout going into the bottom of the 7th.

So much for the shutout. Tejeda is running into some 7th inning trouble. He gave up a leadoff homerun to ex-Ranger Craig Monroe on the first pitch of inning, and followed that up with a walk to Casey.

He just got a double play so if it's still 3-1 in the 8th I'll be happy.

The Ranger pen managed to hold onto the lead. Bauer, Mahay, and Littleton combined for a scoreless 8th and Aki pitched a scoreless 9th for his 25th save of the season. The Rangers won the game 3-1 and are not up 2-1 in the series.

Great game by the Rangers today. Koronka got rocked for 6 runs in 1 1/3rd innings but the Rupe, Benoit, Mahay, and Aki combined for 7 2/3rds scoreless innings. The Rangers recovered from a 6-0 deficit to win the game 7-6. The Rangers took the 4 game series 3-1 against the best team in baseball. I'll post a more in depth recap later today.

    8/20 Game Recap
In a game that featured 13 total runs on 26 hits you would have expected at least 1 homerun. That was not the case in today's 7-6 Ranger win capping a series win over the Tigers. John Koronka was torn apart by the Tigers giving up 6 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks in just 1 1/3rd innings. It was looking like it would just be one of those games, and then the bullpen came on and the offense started pecking away.

Josh Rupe pitched 2 2/3rds scoreless, Joaquin Benoit followed with 3 scoreless innings, Mahay pitched the 8th and Aki with the 9th for his 26th save of the year.

Despite slowly pecking away at the 6-0 deficit, the Rangers posted a series high in runs scored. They scored twice in the 3rd to make it 6-2, one more in the 4th to cut the deficit to 3, and then broke out for 3 in the 5th to tie the game at 6. Texas added 1 more run in the 6th to take a 7-6 lead and that would be the final score.

After losing the first game of the series 4-2, the Rangers came back to win 3 straight to take the 4 game series from the best team in baseball. Texas outscored Detroit 14-12 in the series.
