The Rangers finished off the 4-game series sweep over the Mariners with a 10-6 win in yesterday's game. Texas finished having outscored the Mariners 37-19 in the series.
Gary Matthews Junior only had 1 hit but it was the turning point in the game. He hit a bases clearing, 3-run double in the 5th that gave the Rangers a 6-3 lead. It was also his 38th double of the season.
Michael Young pitched in with 2 hits, including his league leading 41st double, and 2 runs batted in.
Carlos Lee finished 3 for 5 raising his Ranger batting average to .351. He also doubled and drove in 3 runs.
Ian Kinsler went 2 for 3 with a walk, 3 runs scored, and his team high 8th stolen base of the season.
Rod Barajas reached base 3 times with his 17th double of the year and 2 walks. He also scored twice.
Kevin Millwood got off to a shaky start allowing 3 runs on 7 hits over the first 3 innings of the game, but finished with a respectable outing still allowing just the 3 runs on 8 hits an striking out 4 in 6 innings for his 11th win of the season.
The Rangers have now won 5 straight games but have not managed to gain any ground on the A's in their last 4. They remain 5 games out of first place.
