What else was he supposed to do? We don't have much left after trading Coco and Corey. Littleton pitched 2 innings yesterday so I imagine Buck didn't want to overwork him.

At least the right team came out on top.

    8/13 Game Recap
Thanks to a slim 5-4 win over the Mariners, the Rangers now have a 4 game winning streak and are one win away from a 4 game sweep of the Mariners. The Rangers broke through early against Seattle scoring single runs in the 1st and 2nd innings to take a 2-0 lead. They added 2 more runs in the 5th, including Gary Matthews Jr. 14th homerun of the year, and another run int he 6th off of Gerald Laird's 6th homerun. Edinson Volquez pitched a surprisingly good game allowing just 4 hits and 3 walks in 7 scoreless innings to pick up the first win of his big league career. He got into some trouble early on though. Twice in an inning he got 2 quick outs then proceeded to load the bases. Each time he got Adam Jones out to end the threats. The Rangers lead 5-0 going into the 8th when Joaquin Benoit came on to pitch. Both of his outs were strikeouts but he allowed 4 runs on 3 hits and a walk in 2/3 rds of an inning. Aki pitched a scoreless 9th for his 23rd save and lowered his ERA to 2.20.

The Rangers are currently down 1-0 courtesy of a Ben Broussard homerun off Texas starter Kevin Millwood in the top of the 2nd.

Felix Hernandez shut down the Rangers in the first allowing 1 hit and striking out 2 in the inning. Millwood matched him with 2 strikeouts in a scoreless first but allowed 2 hits.

Adam Jones singled and stole 2nd. Ichiro followed with a single that scored Jones. Now 2-0 Mariners.

And Betancourt then popped out to short on the first he saw to end the inning.

Millwood's pitch count is getting a bit high. 40 pitches now through 2 innings, but he is throwing strikes. 29 strikes to 11 balls so far.

    Time for a Ranger rally.
