    Yankees @ Rangers (July 24th-26th)

    Projected Matchups
Game 1: Randy Johnson vs. Kevin Millwood
Game 2: Mike Mussina vs. Adam Eaton
Game 3: Jaret Wright vs. John Wasdin

    Game 1 Matchup Notes
Johnson: Despite an ERA near 5 for the season Randy has pitched well his last 2 outings allowing 5 ER on 11 hits over 15 innings, walking only 1 and striking out 17. Hopefully fatigue could play a factor in the game for him as he threw 129 pitches in has last start against Seattle.

Millwood: Kevin has been bombed at home this season with a 6.59 ERA and has struggled against the Yankees in his career, but he pitched well against them in his last start allowing 2 runs on 5 hits over 7 innings for his first career win against the Yankees.

    Game 2 Matchup Notes
Mussina: Has pitched well against Texas in his career posting a solid 3.82 ERA although just a 14-12 record. In 2 starts against the Rangers in May, Mussina combined for 4 runs on 9 hits over 14 innings. He is easily the Yankees ace with 11 wins and a very good 3.39 ERA this year.

Eaton: Adam will be making his first start of the year, and his Ranger debut, against the Yankees ace Mussina. Eaton has only made 1 start against the Yankees in his career and he gave up 2 runs on 4 hits over 7 innings for the win.

    Game 3 Matchup Notes
Wright: He is coming off a start where he allowed 5 runs on 7 hits over 2.2 innings against Toronto. In his only other start against Texas this year, on May 18th, Wright took the loss giving up 3 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings.

Wasdin: John has been shelled in his career against the Yankees posting an 0-3 record with a 7.94 ERA. He has not had a good July going 1-2 with a 5.68 ERA. Wasdin is expected to get the start but there is a possibility that John Rheinecker could make the start and Wasdin be moved to the bullpen.

Very bold, especially since Eaton has not pitched all year. I am holding out hope that he will use his start against the Yankees ace to show the Ranger fans what he can really do though.

I really do hope they start Rheinecker over Wasdin in game 3.

I hope anyone other than Wasdin pitches. Bring up Volquez or Danks.

I agree. Volquez had another good 6.2 and 2 runs outting the other day. Bring him up and drop the Johns down.

An absolute bomb for Tex off the Big Unit. Josh Lewis said one of the longest homerun hit to leftfield in the history of the stadium.

Unfortunately the game has gone downhill since then. The umpire calling a few strikes balls, a throwing error be DeRosa, and the Yankees are up 4-1.

Texas trying to rally now. Runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out and Johnson struck out Mike Young. Tex up now.

Teixeira chops it to left, Matthews scores, but Teixeira overslid the bag at second and was tagged out. Inning over, Rangers down 4-2.

The Matthews score has been neutralized. Aaron Guiel just took Millwood deep to right to give the Yanks a 5-2 lead.

Getting another rally going here. DeRosa singles and Gerald Laird belly flopped into first base with a bunt single. But a couple of fly balls to centerfield end the rally.

I've lost faith in Millwood now. I thought even with a low 4 ERA, he'd be a good signing, but he's faultering bad.
