    Baldelli On The DL

Devil Rays placed outfielder Rocco Baldelli on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 24, with a strained hamstring.
Baldelli is ready to DH, but the Rays have decided not to use him in that role. Since he still hasn't spent any time in center field since undergoing Tommy John surgery, it's likely that he'll play several games for Triple-A Durham before being activated in mid-April. Since they've decided against carrying Russell Branyan, the Rays will give most of his at-bats to the weak-hitting Damon Hollins.
Why wouldn't Gathright get the call?

    Update:

Manager Joe Maddon said Friday that it's "looking like May at the earliest" for Rocco Baldelli's return from a hamstring injury.
Baldelli went from being questionable for Opening Day to out for the first month so quickly it's surprising he's not a Cubs pitcher. He'd be ready to return as a DH pretty soon if the Devil Rays were willing to let him

    Talk about a frustrating player

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.

Injuries gotta suck. They just get in the way. Tis a shame to see a young talented player like Baldelli be injured like this.
