Devil Rays placed outfielder Rocco Baldelli on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 24, with a strained hamstring.
Baldelli is ready to DH, but the Rays have decided not to use him in that role. Since he still hasn't spent any time in center field since undergoing Tommy John surgery, it's likely that he'll play several games for Triple-A Durham before being activated in mid-April. Since they've decided against carrying Russell Branyan, the Rays will give most of his at-bats to the weak-hitting Damon Hollins.
