The Orioles got the slaughter started right away in the first, Davis walked, Jones reached on infield single, Davis to second. Hardy singled to left, Davis scored. Reimold doubled to center, Jones and Hardy scored, 3-0 in Baltimore's favor.

In the fourth, Schoop reached on an infield single, Joseph homered to left, 5-0 Orioles.

Rays, managed to not get shut out when Longoria and Forsythe hit back-to-back homers in the fourth.

Though there were chances, including the Rays loading the bases in the fifth, there was no more scoring, Orioles take the final game and the series, 5-2.

Wei-Yin Chen went 5.1 innings, giving up the teo homers, six hits and walked one while striking out three for the win, his first in four starts. Zach Britton colected his 25th save.

Matt Moore went 5 innings, giving up five runs on 8 hits, walked two and struck out four for the loss. He became only the second pitcher in Rays history to begin a season with five straight starts of five innings or fewer.

Longoria's home run was his 10th of the season and his first since July 7. Forsythe hit his career-high 11th homer and also ended a bases-loaded Orioles threat with a diving catch in the third. In 17 career starts against the Rays, Chen has surrendered 16 home runs, the most he's allowed to any club.

Rays have dropped eight of their last nine series. Tampa Bay has scored only 87 runs in those 30 games and has scored the fewest runs (351) through 100 games of any team in the franchise's 18 seasons.

Matt Wieters was out of the lineup due to minor back stiffness.

The Rays hope to have Asdrubal Cabrera back sometime mid-week.

The Rays need to seriously think about some changes if they are to get back into contention and stay there. They are now in fourth place, 7.5 games back.

They need to reassess Matt Moore, he wasn't really doing well in his rehab starts when they activated him. He has made 5 starts going 1-2 with a 7.61 ERA, bull pen, minors need to make a decision.

Steven Souza Jr., he started out hot but he is one game away from a possible Mendoza line. There has got to be somebody else that can be brought up to perform at least a week before Shelton ruins them and then rinse and repeat as needed.

David Price (9-3, 2.31), is facing the Rays for the first time this season unless he is traded between now and the start of the game. His last outing here was on August 21, 2014, he allowed just one hit and an unearned run in over eight innings, but the Tigers failed to score.

Jake Odorizzi (5-6, 2.85) was lifted early his last time out, supposedly he and Cash talked and it isn't happening again. In his six losses this season, the Rays have scored a total of seven runs. In his only career start against the Tigers, he took the loss after giving up three runs in 6.2 innings.

Just before game time, the Rays traded David DeJesus to the Angels for minor league pitcher Eduar Lopez. It's a good fit for David, he'll be at home with his family.

Re: 2015 Tampa Bay Rays season

Rays got the scoring started in the second, Cabrera led off with a double, Casali singled, Cabrera to third, Beckham singled, Cabrera scored.

In the fourth, Céspedes led off with a homer to right center, game tied 1-1.

In the Rays half, Souza Jr. led off with a double, Cabrera doubled him home, 2-1, Casali homered, 4-1.

In the 6th, Casali hit a solo homer to right, 5-1 Rays.

In the 8th, Neftali Feliz now pitching for Detroit, Longoria led off with a homer to right center, 6-1. Forsythe walked, Souza singled, Cabrera reached on an infield single to load the bases.Beckham tripled scoring all three, 9-1.Kiermaier hit a sac fly scoring Beckham making it 10-1.

In the 9th, Brandon Gomes pitching for the Rays, Avila doubled, Iglesias singled to score Avila. 10-2. That woul dbe all the runs the Tigers would get, Rays take the series, go for the sweep tomorrow.

Price went 6 innings giving up five runs on seven hits, two walks and struck out four for the loss.

Odorizzi went 6 innings giving up one run on six hits, one walks and struck out eight for the win. He got out of a few jams keeping the Tigers from gettting any kind of rally.

It was the second night in a row that catcher Curt Casali hit two home runs. He tied the Rays record for homers in a three-game series with four. He's the first Tampa Bay player to hit a pair in consecutive games since Greg Vaughn did it May 18-19, 2002, at Baltimore. He is the second rookie catcher in Major League history to accomplish that feat, the other was Seattle's Kenji Johjima in 2006. The last catcher to have back-to-back multi-homer games was Mike Napoli in 2011.

There was a challenge and play review in the second, the call on the field was a triple for J.D.Martinez. Kiermaier had tracked the ball to the wall, but it landed in front of him appearing to have hit off the cat walk, which would be a home run at the Trop. After the review, it was ruled no conclusive evidence to overturn so the triple stood.

To whoever kidnapped the real TB Rays, don't bring them back.

    Rehab report:
Desmond Jennings will start a minor league rehab assignment this weekend with Triple-A Durham.

The Rays called up C Bobby Wilson from Durham, hoping to get both Casali's hot bat in the line up at DH and Rivera behind the plate.Wilson takes the roster spot vacated by the departure of David DeJesus.

Among all the kiddies and their thunder sticks on Parks and Rec Day was Kate Upton watching her boyfriend Justin Verlander.
    2015 Tampa Bay Rays season-clgnqk1wgaa-8xw-jpg

A true pitcher's duel, neither side had a hit until the 5th, when Cabrera led off with a home run to right off Verlander.

Archer had a perfect game going into the 7th, Iglesias hit a ball that Cabrera got to but he was off balance on the throw to first and it wasn' t in time. Then he erred on a ball hit by Céspedes resulting both runners being safe instead of a double play. JD Martinez singled in Iglesias. Castellanos singled in Céspedes giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead.

Verlander still pitching the 8th, two runners and he got out of the jam.

Geltz and Boxberger held the Tigers, but Verlanda and Joakim Soria (23rd save) held the Rays, Detroit taking the final game 2-1.

Verlander went 8 innings giving up one run on four hits, no walks and struck out 10 for the win. He retired his first 14 batters before the Cabrera homer in the fifth.

Archer gave up 2 unearned runs on three hits, no walks with 11 Ks in seven innings for the loss.

Catch of the day .... Kevin Kiermaier made a leaping catch with his back facing the infield in deep center field in the 6th inning to rob James McCann of an extra-base hit.

The Rays get a day off tomorrow.
