Re: Tampa Bay Rays 2014 Season time to "Rays Up!"

Last night's game postponed due to weather and no make up date has been set, hopefully it will be much later and the Rays may have some of their wounded back.

Rays played the day game today, Odorizzi didn't pitch badly going 5 innings giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, 3 walks and 5 strike outs. The Rays got zippidy-do-dah off Orioles pitching. So, they lost 3-0.

Poor Odoz had a couple rough defensive plays including a ball he and Longo let go thinking it was going to dribble foul, doofuses.

Cripes! The Yankees are coming in for 4.

Don Zimmer had open heart surgery yesterday, he has been ill recently though he did appear at the Rays opener. He was on oxygen and needed assistance via golf cart to get on the field to greet the players.

Reports are he is resting comfortably and should be released in a few days.

Zim is a treasure and I hope he makes a nice recovery and gets to return to the field.

    OMG, what a nightmare!

What little bit of offense the Rays mustered was squashed by a Triple play.

Price gives up 2 Triples in the 2nd, back to back homers to Soriano and McCann in the 5th, 6 runs in 5 innings for David.

Solarte a home run off Balfour in the 9th. No arms, no bats, we suck!

Bedard got the start he lasted 3.2 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits, Boxberger pitched 2 scoreless innings and Rays pitchers only gave up one more run in the 7th.

Rays cut the Yankee lead down to one by the 6th and then they scored 3 in the 6th and 5 in the 9th to finally get a win 11-5. Just one homer in the game a 2 run shot by Sean Rodriguez.

Yesterday a roster move as Rays optioned Brad Boxbeger and recalled C.J. Riefenhauser.

Desmind Jennings benched with a sore groin.

Wow, Rays put a hurt on Nova, 8 runs on 8 hits 4 of them home runs. 2 homers for Myers (2nd one off of Matt Daley) and Hanigan, Longoria's home run in the 3rd takes the all time Ray's home run record from Carlos Pena.

Archer pitched 6.2 strong innings, 1 run on 3 hits. Soriano scored the only Yankee run when Kelly Johnson sent him home with a double in the 5th. Riefenhauser made his debut relieving Archer to end the 7th and then the 8th giving up no runs.

Cesar Ramos is pitching now, Yanks are up 1-0, Rays coming up to bat in the 4th.

Rays lose in extra innings. 1-1 tie until the 12th when the Yanks score a run off Bell, then 3 off Riefenhauser when he loaded the bases and those batters scored on hits off of Josh Lueke to win 5-1.

With the off day David price got moved up to start tonight ahead of Odorizzi, good move as Price struck out 12 in a complete game victory over the Twinkies .

DeJesus snapped his 0-24 slump, with 3 hits and 3 RBIs.

7th loss in a row for the Twins...OUCH!

The Twin pitching lasted longer than Rays pitching, maybe it's me but am not a huge Lueke fan, doesn't seem to do well in tight situations.

Odorizzi once again pulled early giving up 4 runs in 3.1 innings. Offense is on steroids one day and life support the next. Can we get a happy medium please????

Once again a short outing for a starter, Erik Bedard going just 4 innings, giving up 4 runs on five hits, 5 walks and 3 strike outs. Heath Bell gave up 5 runs on 5
    hits.

Juan Carlos Oviedo pitched 1.1 innings and gave up no runs,2 walks with 2 strike outs.

The bats couldn't come back, losing 9-7, Twins take the series.

Rays lost a heart breaker last night, taking the lead in the 8th off a 2 run homer from Longo, but losing when Balfour loads he bases then gives up the walk off grand to Jose Abreu, White Sox won 9-6.

Then tonight watching the Rays all bundled up reminds me why I live in Florida with temps today of 84 degrees.

Ceasar Ramos went scoreless innings giving up 5 hits and 2 walks, Brandon Gomes and JC Oviedo kept it scoreless to win 4-0. There was a moment again when Jose Abreu came up with bases loaded in the 5th but Ramos gt out of it. Ryan Hanigan with a 3 run double, Desmond Jennings an RBI triple.

Maddon was ejected in the 8th for arguing a check swing.

The Price was not right today, tagged for 8 runs, final to the White Sox, 9-2.

Oh my do we suck! Nobody can pitch more than 5 innings, another loss 7-3, only got one game in chilly Chicago.

There was an amazing catch in left field, the amazing part...it was Matt Joyce.

On to Boston, I don't know which will be worse watching Bedard get bamboozled by the Green Monster or dealing with AssJ Pierzynski on top of just losing.

    I don't believe it!

Rays get some payback for being forced into a split double header, take game one 2-1, game two 6-5. They win both games of a DH in Fenway for the first time.

Archer struggled in the second game, but the bats came back and with the help of a defensive blooper by Westbrook the Rays got an extra breath of life.
Homers from SRod and Escobar late for the win.

    Rays 2.....Green Monster 1.
