The Rays split the first series with the Jays, so tonight they face the Rangers for 3 games.

David DeJesus was back in the line up after bruising his right foot in Monday's game. He went 2 for 5 as the DH.

Longo hit the first Rays homer for 2014, a 3 run lob to left field, it was his 163rd home run tying the franchise record with Carlos Pena.

Chris Archer had a good 2014 debut going 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, issuing 2 walks and striking out 7. Joel Peralta has already picked him as is future son in-law when his daughter turns 18 in 4 years.

Wil Myers is expected to return after being kept out yesterday with flu symptoms.

Sean Rodriguez is also expected back from paternity leave, his wife Giselle had a 9lb baby boy, their 4th.

IF Vince Belnome was called up to replace SRod but optioned back to Durham after the game.

Native son movie actor and Broadway performer Patrick Wilson sang the National Anthem tonight at the Trop.

    Another great pitching performance.

Ezekiel Cruz Rodriguez's daddy Sean had 4 RBIs including a 3 run homer.
Hanigan with a 3 run homer!

    Rays win! Rays Win!

Rays extend Yunel Escobar for 2 more years. he will get $5M in 2015, $7M for 2016 with a 2017 option of $7M with a $1Ml buyout.

Maddon is 2 for 2 in challenges being overturned in the Rays favor.

Rays were behind in Sat. match 4-3 when with one on in the 8th Texas intentionally walked Longo and Loney hit a 2 run double giving the Rays a 5-4 win.

They go for the sweep today.

Alex Cobb made a good start, 7 innings, 6 strike outs, 1 walk, 3 hits and no runs, unfortunately the bull pen allowed 3 runs in the 8th, so the Rangers were able to avoid the sweep. Equal quality start by Yu Darvish, he left the game after 7, 6 strike outs, 1 walk with seven hits and no runs.

The Rays left 10 men stranded.

Rays heading to Kansas City for their first road trip of the season.

Ugly game for the Rays at Kauffman. Matt Moore left the game in the 5th when he grimaced after a pitch to Nori Aoki, word is his left elbow is sore, he'll get an MRI tomorrow.

Heath Bell came in with one runner on in the 6th, loaded the bases and gave up a 3 run double giving the Royals a 4-1 lead. Then in the 7th Bell hit Omar Infante square in the jaw, he left the game.

Maddon lost a challenge on a close play at first in the 8th.

The Rays scored just 2 runs in the 9th losing 4-2.

Matt Moore has been placed on the 15 day DL list, Rays called up Jeff Beliveau.

Infante has a sprained jaw and had 6 stiches put in his chin.

^^^^^Nope, never a good sign. Though losing any starting pitcher isn't as scary as it used to be in years past, better to be on the safe side and check him out, let him rest it, whatever he needs.

Another good pitching match last night, Royals flinched first so Rays take game two 1-0.

Looking like Matt Moore will need season ending surgery.

    Moore may have torn ligament.

Rays lose final game in series 7-3.

Tampa Tribune is confirming it's a torn UCL for Moore. Tommy John likely.

Hate to see it happen to such a promising young arm.

Word is for right now the Rays will wait and see on Moore, have him rest and then play catch to see how it feels, may try to use other methods to heal the tear without surgery.

They start a three game series in Cincinnati tonight.

Price delivered a solid outing on Friday night, Joyce homered, Balfour loaded the bases in the 9th but got out of the jam preserving the lead for a 2-1 win.

This afternoon another good pitching match up, Cobb 7 strong innings, Loney provided the only run with a homer Rays take second game 1-0.

Okay, now I'm worried. Alex Cobb to the DL, he strained his oblique yesterday. The Rays called up Jeff Beliveau.

Ramos took the start today. The Rays were down 2-0 when Zobrist launched a 2 run homer to tie in the 3rd. Ramos let up 2 more runs in the bottom half and got pulled, Gomes couldn't stop the bleeding giving up 3 more. Zobrist hit another 2 run homer from the other side of the plate in the 7th, but the Reds would score 4 more runs in the 8th for the final nails on the coffin.

Reds pitcher Cingrani pitched very well going 6 innings.

Reds take the final game 12-4 and the Rays are down another starting pitcher. Oh boy!

Rays optioned Beliveau and called up Brad Boxberger.

Obtained during the off season in a January trade with San Diego, Boxberger had a 1.29 ERA in six spring training games with Tampa Bay. He was 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA in four games with Durham.

He got in for a scoreless inning tonight with a strike out, but the damage was done when Archer gave up 7 runs on 12 hits in the first 5 innings.

Baltimore's Chen went 6 innings giving up just one run. That would be the score in the Orioles win, 7-1.
