    Tonight’s Match-ups

Wade Davis threw his first CG of the season last Friday against the Red Sox. He is 4-0 with a 3.27 ERA in five career starts at Camden Yards.

Jeremy Guthrie passed 1,000 innings pitched for his career while beating the Jays on Friday. He has been another victim of poor run support, the 2 scored were enough this time as he held the opposition to just 3 hits in 7 innings pitched.

It would be nice if the Rays could take this series and get back to within 3 back of the Red Sox before heading into Boston on Thursday.

The Rays also DFA'd Rob Delaney.

Re: The Reinforced Rays @ Those Pecking Orioles 9/12-9/14

Jeremy Guthrie threw 7 strong innings and reached a career high 10 strike outs to get the win. The Rays were limited to just 3 hits, but the Orioles were able to launch a slew of homers. Two of them came off starter Wade Davis and 2 off Matt Moore making his ML debut. to give the Orioles the series with a 6-2 victory in the finale. Matt was confuzzled out of the gate when he started to come out of the pen, then went back then realized he was being called out to pitch and headed to the mound again. As the newly called up rookie the players made him tote a Dora Explorer backpack but I think the matching umbrella might have been too much and jinxed him.

Sam Fuld left the 5th inning with a wrist injury.

Alex Torres was recalled and Dan Johnson’s contract was purchased from Durham to put the roster at 34 in uniform.

The Red Sox lost as well so the deficit is 4 games back in the WC with 4 games in Boston coming.
