Maybe there was but Rays either nixed the idea quick or teams figured they weren't giving him up with Dan Johnson as the alternative?

I would then assume they will resign him or he's compensation type? Good year for him. He's actually making contact. He always played defense and drew walks.

I certainly hope so, he fits in well, love that D at first...Rays have been pretty lucky with 1B for the most part....and a plus that he has been hitting. The Rays have really been playing up this hometown angle with him & Joyce.

Jeremy Hellickson is 10-7 with a 3.05 ERA . He gave up just one run to the Royals going 7 1/3 innings his last outing on Monday.

Phil Hughes is 2-4 with a 7.11 ERA and basically won the coin toss with AJ Burnett on taking his spot in the rotation. He last pitched in relief against Boston, this will be his first start this season against the Rays.

The bombers were out in force in the Bronx last night but it was the ones from out of town. CC Sabathia gave up a career high 5 homers, the one Longoria hit was the 100th for his career.

    Line ups

    Rays

    Jennings LF
    Damon DH
    Longoria 3B
    Zobrist 2B
    Kotchman 1B
