It was all Big Game and Longo last night. Just last month the Rays played the longest in club’s history and last night was the shortest at 1 hr and 53 minutes. Shields comments expressed disappointment (???) , he gave up his first stolen base of the year…….geez, James don’t sweat it!

    Tonight’s match ups

Felipe Paulino is 1-4, with a 3.56 ERA since joining the Royals starting rotation, though he has itched well he has 6 no decisions in 11 starts. He gave up just 3 runs in 6 2/3rds against the Tigers, but it the team lost in extra innings.

Wade Davis is 8-7, with a 4.55 ERA. Davis pitched well on Thursday against the Jays, but he also got a no decision allowing three runs, five hits in 7 2/3rds.

Good outing for Davis, the Legend of Sam Fuld continues, great comeback tonight for the Rays.

The Royals had another ML debut tonight with catcher Salvador Perez who did an admirable job, MCab with a 5 RBI night, but the duo of Aaron Crow and Joakim Soria allowed 5 runs in the 9th the last being a run for the plate from Super Sammy and an exciting finish. Dog pile on home plate with the littlest guy on the bottom. Rays win 8-7.

    Today’s match-ups

Danny Duffy is 3-5 with a 5.08 ERA, started out rough last Saturday going just 5 innings using 105 pitches gave up 3 runs on five hits and 3 walks.

Jeff Niemann is 6-4 with a 3.58 ERA, picking up his 6th win on Friday against the A’s. Allowing 4 runs on 7 hits in 8 2/3rds. He is now 5-0 since coming off the DL in June.

This contest is one of the very few not being picked up by either regional or national TV.

Rays sweep the Royals good note before heading to NY. Niemann went 6 1/3rd allowed just one run, Farnsworth got his 21st save.

Justin Ruggiano went to the DL with left knee bursitis, it had been bothering him for a few days. Reid Brignac was recalled.
