The Plunked Rays @ The Base Skipping A’s 7/25-7/28

    Probables

    Hellickson VS Moscoso

    Price VS McCarthy

    Shields VS Cahill

    Davis VS Harden

The Rays coming off a series loss to the Royalpainsintheass continue their road trip to a place where they have a dreadful record. The Rays are 18-43 all time at the Coliseum in Oakland. The Rays performed poorly in KC and getting hit about as many times as they scored.

The A’s are coming off a series loss against the Yankees, with a split against the Tigers and taking 3 of 4 from the Angels since the break.

    Who’s hot…

Hideki Matsui has been a roll and was awarded the AL Player of the Week award.

Desmond Jennings has been on a roll since being called up from Triple A.

    Worth noting

The Rays are 39-12 when they score first.

The A’s have 79 errors on the season and are 21-34 when committing one or more errors in a game.

Jeremy Hellickson is 9-7 with a 3.17 ERA., his last outing he went 7 innings, giving up 2 runs in his first start against the Yankees.

Guillermo Moscoso is 3-5 with a 2.96 ERA, he got hammered in his last start against the Tigers when they scored 7 runs (6 earned) on 9 hits in just 4 2/3 innings. He had only allowed one earned run in 4 of his previous outings.

****Adam Russell cleared waivers and is headed back to Durham.****

    Rodriguez singles up the middle.
DJ lifts one high over the head of Godzilla, off the top of the low wall, SRod heads for home, throw not in time. Jennings with a double.

    Tied 2-2

Damon hits a little dribbler to third, they get the out at first, DJ to third.
    Zorilla walks.
    Longo walks.
Bases loaded for Joyce, pops to right, Jennings tags but doesn't chance it. Grrrrrrr. No guts, no glory, dammit!!!!
BJ grounds into a force to second, Weeks flips to Pennington to get Longo. Another bases loaded situation and they get zippidy doo dah!! Absolutely "maddoning"!!

Crisp pops to left foul territory, but Jennings is there for the catch.
    Godzilla flies out to right.
    Willy singles to left.
De J flies out to left.

Funny...the Rays were in KC and it was over 100 degrees on the field, they just showed the pitchers in the dugout and they're all in hoodies.

It gets into the 50s at night in Oakland...even at this time of the year. 60s if you're lucky.

    Kotch grounds out to first.
Shoppach hits softly to third, throw too low, skips past Jackson, Shoppach advances to second on the error .....your fielding is bad when you let the Oompa Loompa of the Rays get to second.

    SRod flies out to left.
    DJ flies out to center.

I had heard that but got lucky when I went in 2002 to see the Rays play the Giants, weather was perfect.

JD pops up, Godzilla running in ball just in front of his glove, Damon busting for second, Zilla jumps up , makes the throw and Weeks is late with the tag!! They had him by a mile and he just oles the swipe.

Zorilla flies out to right, Damon advances to third.

Ouch!! Jackson hits the first base wall trying to catch a foul pop up from Longo. Evan walks.

    Mound huddle.

Joyce lines to center, Pennington makes the flip to Weeks to get Longo, but the throw to first is way off line, Damon scores, Matty advances to second.

    Rays up 3-2.

OMG, it's the Devil Rays in yellow shirts!
