This will be the first time Boston comes to TB this season, the first time Carl Crawford returns to his former stomping grounds in the Red coat.

At this point last season the Sawx were 4 games behind the Rays and Yanks in the AL East. This season the tide has turned and they stand alone for now. The last face off in Boston went mostly the Rays way, they won 2 of the 3 game set, but the final game was PPD and won’t be made up until August. It is a much different Sox team, while the Rays got back on track faster the Sox have continued the climb to land on top.

The Sox put up a remarkable 35 run weekend and have a 9 game winning streak AGone has a nine game RBI streak going, too), while the Rays fought a hard battle against the Orioles and a disappointing make up in Detroit.

Johnny Damon reached a 38 game streak of getting on base safely taking the franchise record.
Matt Joyce is expected back in the line up.

Wakefield has won 3 of his last 4 starts though one of those came from an 11 run explosion from the Sox bats in their sweep of the Yankees last week.

Shields hasn’t faired all that well against the Sox ( Pedroia pretty much owns him) and is coming off a no decision against the Angels.

Will it be a massacre or will the Rays spoil the tea party? I would say the momentum is certainly on the side of the Sawx.
