    Hottovy pitching.

Matty J hits a fly dropping in front of Ellsbury he boots it, Joyce pulls up at second.
    Longo HBP.
Kotch lines a single into left, Joyce rounds third heading for home, Longo to third.

    Aceves in relief of Hottovy.

Upton pops to CF, runners hold.
Jaso loops one over Pedroia, Longo scores. Kotch to second.
Ruggiano sends a high fly to center, caught. Runners tag, Kotch heads back to second but Jaso had gone too far and can't get back to first in time gets doubled off.

On to the 9th Rays up 4-0.

    AGone pops to Kotch.
Yoooooouk grounds out to third, the throw in time, but Youk clipped CK in the calf. Stays in the game.
    Papi flies out to left.

A complete game shut out for Big Game.

Going back to the doubles milestone of Damon he is now tied with Rusty Staub at 499. WHen he reaches 500 he will be the 11th player to have...
    500 doubles
    100 triples
    200 HR
    2,500 hits

Ruggiano has been doing great for you guys lately and making his case that he needs to stay. Shields hurling a shutout against the Sox's red hot offense was quite a feat!

I was thinking the exact same thing about Ruggiano when I saw him rob Pedroia of extra bases with a leaping catch.

The feat was keeping Ells and Peds off the base paths for AGone.

    Tonight’s match-ups…..

Hellickson didn’t have a great start in Baltimore, giving up 5 runs after only allowing 6 in just over 40 innings.

Beckett makes his first start of the season against the Rays. He is 5-2, but with 6 no-decisions in his last 10 starts, his last win against the Yankees. He has only beaten the Rays at The Trop once.

The lone hit for the Rays came on a check swing slapped to 3B by Brignac in the 3rd and Youk wasn’t able to get the throw quickly to first.

Johnny Damon’s safe base streak ends at 39.

One of the best performances I have seen from Beckett especially against the Rays. A one hit, complete game shut out for Josh. Hellickson pitched very well, the one mistake to Youkilis and got a lot of help on defense with the double plays.

Boston takes the second game 3-0.

Well, it was a good fight, at least it wasn’t a massacre. I didn’t get to watch the tape of the game until late last night, had to pull a double shift. Price didn’t have his best stuff and the damn Sox bullpen has been stellar.

Celebrity sighting of the week…..Tim Tebow, very cute, very pleasant.
