Smoaked Rays @ Rarely Yanked Anaheim Angels 6/6-6/8

    Probables

    Price VS Chatwood

    Cobb VS Haren

    Juego G VS Weaver

The Rays just got their cans royally handed to them by King Felix and the M’s. The Angels lost a rare series to the Yankees.

Price pitched 8 innings and gave up just three runs in a loss last Wed. to the Rangers. Chatwood went 7 2/3 scoreless innings in his outing against the Royals but got a no-decision.

Longoria is expected to start tonight, he wants in since he has a .413 BA in Angel Stadium and of course his family should be there. Trumbo has been on fire getting at least a hit in his last 7 games.

Johnny Damon’s base streak is still alive at 31 after a single in Sunday’s game. Howie Kendrick has a career .443 average against the Rays, best of any active player.

The team theme for Anaheim was “beach boys”, tried finding a group shot but all I could find so far was just David.

Those are some tough pitchers the Rays have to face. At least two of them are. Maybe the Rays will be in and out of the clubhouse all night tonight to see all the future Rays they are going after.

Well, we have a pretty good pitcher going for our side

Looks like half the team is sick with the flu though, so the two sickest had to sit, Longo and Upton.....Kotch looks like he was about to pass out, but he's playing.

Rays up 2-0 heading into the 6th.

OMG, Reid Brignac has 2 hits...... in the same game! Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!

They were showing all the updates and discussing the picks during the broadcast last night. Everyone has been up for the draft with the record breaking number of picks, our announcers chatted for a bit with Friedman well after midnight on the phone.

    Wrap up...

Price started the 8th with a shut out, but after giving up a double to Trumbo who scored on a single off of Mathis, Maddon went with Ramos to finish the inning. It would be the only run for the Halos. The Rays were lifted by an RBI single in the first and a 2 run homer in the 6th from Ruggiano who replaced Upton in CF due to a stomach flu going around the clubhouse. SRod got another start at 3rd with Longoria being ill.

Reid Brignac who came into the game with only 5 hits in the season racked up 3.

Johnny Damon’s streak of getting on base continues at 32.

    Tonight’s matchups…

Alex Cobb will make just his third start, the first was against the Angels on May 1st when he was pulled early due to a problem with tipping pitches. He worked on it in Durham and came back to pitch at the end of May, pitching much better, but came away with a no decision. The Rays went on to win the game against the Rangers.

Dan Haren didn’t make his last scheduled start due to tightness in his lower back, because he was scratched, his streak of 214 consecutive starts stays alive.

JD with a lead off triple to extend his streak to 33, driven home on a groundout by Zorilla. Rays strike first up 1-0.

Rays had the bases loaded and no outs in the 2nd, but Haren hunkered down and got out of the inning unscathed.

In the 4th, Damon doubles to bring home Jaso. Zobrist hits a long single, Damon headed for home called out on what appears by replays to be a phantom tag. Maddon argues, inning over... Rays up 3-0.

Kotchman singles off of Thompson with 2 outs in the 8th, Ruggiano singles sending Kotch to 3rd. Jaso sends one up the center, Kotch scores……….pitching change Jepsen. Gets SRod to pop out. 4-1.

Big match up tonight with Shields and Weaver. Shields is coming off his worse start of the year in Seattle, Weaver snapped his losing string of 6 winless outings in his last start against the Yankees.

Rays are hoping for their first ever sweep of the Angels in Anaheim

James Shields matching Jered Weaver pretty much pitch to pitch with the exception of the Brignac home run.
