Garza really started to come into his own last season. His stuff really shined as he struck out almost 190 batters. His stuff has always been great, now it's just getting better. But despite the lower BAA and higher K/9 versus his 2008 effort, he did walk nearly 80 batters and his HR rate went up. He was really trying to hit his spots last season, which sometimes resulted in that K and other times in a BB. His post-ASG numbers were a bit poorer than what he posted to start the 2009 season, but that could have been fatigue.
I like Garza a lot but I am not sure if this will be the year he takes off to become a true top of the rotation pitcher? He's great and he will be there soon, but it just seems like he needs some more time and then there might be a CY Young race for him...
