David Price gave up only an unearned run over five innings and struck out six Thursday for Triple-A Durham. How much longer are they going to wait?

Until they see that Sonny and Niemann deserve to both be demoted!

David Price allowed two runs and two hits over five innings Tuesday for Triple-A Durham.
It was good enough for his first win of the season. As promised, the Rays are monitoring Price's innings closely. He's thrown just 13 2/3 innings in his three starts for Durham, and he was taken out after 71 pitches last night.
Great to see them sticking with their plans to monitor his innings. Price is looking sharp in limited action.

David Price allowed two runs in 4 2/3 innings Tuesday for Triple-A Durham.
Price struck out five and walked none, but he gave up a homer to former Rays teammate Jonny Gomes. He has a 4.60 ERA through seven starts for Triple-A Durham. That the Rays have been so strict with his pitch count -- he's yet to throw more than five innings in a start -- might be having an adverse effect on his results. Both runs tonight came in the first, and it's not like he was removed in the fifth because he got into trouble; he had allowed just a bunt single in the frame before being pulled after his 76th pitch.
I too think this pitch count is having a negative affect on Price. He might be trying to do too much in his limited time. Maybe if ease off of him and let him do his thing, results would be better.

I think its time he starts to get more innings under his belt.

If only he changed his mind about attending Vanderbilt and jumped to the pros straight from HS instead...oh well, he blossomed into a much, much better pitcher in college. Good luck to him.

If only the Rays would let him go past five innings, he probably could help right now. Its almost JUne and the Rays aren't playing well. Time for a boost and let Price progress at the MLB level.

Price expected to get Monday start

MIAMI—It won’t be official for a couple more days, but David Price is likely to take Scott Kazmir’s spot in the Rays’ rotation Monday in Cleveland.

Price is slated to start for Durham tomorrow, but that won’t happen. The big lefty is 1-4 with a 3.93 ERA in eight starts for the Bulls and has been working under strict pitch counts all season.

The Rays probably will send a reliever—Dale Thayer, most likely—back to the minors following Sunday’s game to clear a roster spot.

A couple of leadoff errors by Longoria and Pena are to blame for half of the runs given up, according to the scorekeepers. Still a bad outing.

Yep, the new beasts are back.....at least for the moment! Kind of makes me wonder if we had put him into the rotation last year if the season would have turned out a lot different.

Toby, who ends up as the ace of the staff for the future, Garza or Price?

That's a darn good question cause I would say Neimann could make a run at it too.
