The Tampa Tribune reports the Rays have agreed to terms with second baseman Adam Kennedy on a minor league contract.
The Cardinals are the hook for Kennedy's $4 million salary, so the Rays lose nothing by bringing him into spring training and giving him a look. Kennedy's defense and contact hitting will play better off the bench, but he faces an uphill battle to make the Opening Day roster with infielders Ben Zobrist and Willy Aybar in line for bench spots.
Not a bad pickup for the Rays but like the author says, he has little chance of making team. His only chance is if someone is injured.
