    Random "cut" question....

Jose amezega is 30, and when the season flipped he got injured for the season. He was already riding the pine in the minors. But he's owed 2.7 mil for the next 3 years. If I cut him (his ratings will sure drop) would I owe his salary just this year? Would be on my books the next 3 years? How would that work?

I feel like you asked this before related to some other bum on KC. And yes, you'll be responsible for the entire amount at once. The only way you would be off the hook in a situation like that (multi-year contract) is if a player retires. I had Lance Uppercut retire with a year left and didn't pay it for example.

Lol, prov, you have more time than I did to look that up. And he is a bum, and yes I don't have any cash on hand to pay it lol. The issue is I think he's Arron Boone. He hurt himself in the offseason, my guess is pickup basketball game.... Shouldn't there be a clause in his contract???

Nope, you either get to hang onto him for the years to bleed out the money, or you get to cut him and take the hit all at once.

You could revive him at the end of the year if you want, he is 30. I don't deal with that stuff until the end of the season but if you put it in now before his ratings tank, we can have it all ready to go. And if a bigger/better player needs that spot, we'll just forget about it.

I wasn't using him at all, I'm not worried about him, I'll just keep him in AAA maybe they'll let him coach lol

My suggestion to you is to throw him into a deal as a topper. Especially based on your salary situation, when you are working on one of your many trades, implore someone to take that salary off your hands. A team with 40 million to burn is more apt to take that contract in a deal knowing they're just letting it burn if it'll help put a deal over the edge, and you save money.

Cut him now and take an $8 mil hit or toss him in a deal to a guy who has plenty of cash free and let him eat the contract, saving you cash.

I've made many deals where I added a guy to get him off my books. I've made many deals where I took a guy to help the other guy's books if it helped push the trade into the 'Go' column. Do what works.

If you keep him, you definitely need to petition mission to restore him, as he said above.
