Do you regret never dealing for Mike McC?

(Obviously this is only applicable to those teams who haven't had the sim god on their team.)

It's rare in any league to see a guy of his talent dealt so often (relatively speaking compared to the talent) and when you factor in how he doesn't seem to want to have a contract higher than your average 2.5 star SP... it's just baffling. Free agent bust Jonah Axelrod took home a lot more change than McC has ever bagged in one signing.

Granted, he is older now, but it really is one of my regrets as a GM in this league. A career ERA of 2.93 of five teams played for. I know with that talent it's tempting to deal for a team needing to rebuild (as many of those teams were doing by trying to get a big return on their big asset), but it's still surprising to me that no one managed to keep him for 7 or 8 years (the longest tenure was of three and a halft years in New York.)

No, but I pretty much regret dealing him. I dealt him in fear that he would one day stick me up for 20 million per...

I entertained the thought of trading for Wayne Hage. But Hafdawg asked (jokingly or not, I don't know) for Domino, McSpadden, and Michael Davidson.

People just don't love him and Hage enough. Tragic.

Mission, couldn't you leave Axelrod out of this. I don't need to be reminded of such things.

Sorry man. He was one of the created FA players and I remember creating him and thinking that this will be the ultimate lefty reliever (his ratings were so stacked against righties.) I wanted to sign him myself but my offer was turned down. And it ended up being a personal failure as I was hoping he would be the guy to have an ERA of sub 1.00 versus lefties (of course he took talent and ratings hits, but even at what he was created at, he didn't live up to the potential he could have had.)

I didn't have the prospects at the time

Although some people forget to say when I dealt Wayne Hage I did get Felipe Benitez back in return

Yea, when I signed him to that crazy contract his ratings were pretty solid. Like 9 9 9 I think.

BTW, can you have pitchers pitch only against lefties.

    Yes.

But I mean, I don't want to mortgage my team for him either.

Put a pitcher in the #2 setup spot and tell me to switch on your team setting for favoring lefty/lefty. (He won't ONLY pitch against lefties, but his workload against them will rise.)

I can't say I regret never dealing for him, as it would have depleted my always-weak farm system...this team was in such horrific shape when I took it over, I'm still trying to rebuild.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Just remember, I was the original dealer of Wayne Hage. Back when he was 7-8-7. And 3-4-4 actuals.

I got 1/3 of a season from Rene Rivera for one of the better pitchers in the league.

Yeah, the epic Hage trade that Halladay never let you forget.
