    Cardinals Cardinals soar in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH -- Matt Morris made his 2005 debut after rehabbing from right shoulder surgery. The right-hander pitched six strong innings as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 7-1, in front of 12,285 at PNC Park.
The victory gave the Cards a two-game series sweep and wrapped up a 5-0 road swing.

Morris limited the Pirates to one run on four hits and recorded seven strikeouts as he raised his record to 1-0.

Right-hander Josh Fogg pitched five innings for Pittsburgh and allowed six runs, four of them unearned, on eight hits as he absorbed the loss, falling to 1-1 on the season.

The Cards got to Fogg in the second inning, when they pushed across four runs, three of them unearned.

Center fielder Jim Edmonds homered for the second consecutive night. He smacked a solo shot to left center -- his fifth home run of the season and 10th RBI.

St. Louis loaded the bases with the aid of a throwing error by Fogg. Larry Walker stroked a two-run single to right, picking up his fourth and fifth RBIs.

Pittsburgh left fielder Craig Wilson misjudged a fly ball by Albert Pujols, resulting in an RBI double and pushing St. Louis to a 4-0 lead.

Pittsburgh responded in the bottom of the second inning, as first baseman Daryle Ward tagged a home run to right field off Morris. It was Ward's second home run of the season.

St. Louis added another unearned run in the fourth inning, fueled by Pittsburgh first baseman Daryl Ward's error. Mark Grudzielanek scored on a fielders choice as Scott Rolen picked up his sixth RBI of the season.

The Cardinals upped their lead to 6-1 as catcher Yadier Molina doubled home Abraham Nunez.

Bleh. At least Ward had a couple hits, Fogg's line doesn't look too bad, 3 earned in 5, so...
