    Bigbie Out 2-3 Weeks

    - Larry Bigbie, among the contenders for the St. Louis Cardinals' vacant left field job, said Friday he'll be sidelined two to three weeks with a stress fracture in his left foot.

Bigbie, acquired from the Colorado Rockies in the offseason, is batting .231 with two doubles and two RBI in 26 at-bats this spring. An MRI exam earlier in the week confirmed the break.

The left-handed hitting Bigbie batted .248 for the Orioles last year with five homers and 21 RBI in 206 at-bats. He was signed with the possibility of platooning in left field with So Taguchi.
Looks like J-Rod and Taguchi in left to start the season and if Edmonds needs to start the year on the DL, it could be an OF of J-Rod, Taguchi and Encarnacion.

Thats a far cry from last year's outfield. Its something that will help the rest of the NL Central for a while too. Which I am not complaining about in the least bit.

Man, what a difference this OF may look.

Larry Bigbie was a beast in one of my MLB 2k5 Franchises, hitting that huge improvement.

However, if Edmonds misses the beginning of the season, that is an amazingly ugly outfield. Granted, they have a few infielders to make a good core for hitting (namely Pujols and Rolen), but they'll have to rely on Carpenter and co.

The Cards still should win the division, but they've had some notable losses...

Edmonds was in yesterday's game so I see no reason for him to miss time. Encarnacion has been crushing the ball lately so it looks like Taguchi, Edmonds and Encarnacion will be in the Opening Day lineup. Cards have the pitching, offense and defense to runaway with this division once again.
