MILWAUKEE -- Jeff Suppan is still tough on the road. Albert Pujols can still hit. And Ben Sheets still can't beat the Cardinals.
Pujols' solo homer put St. Louis ahead in the fourth, and Suppan pitched a masterpiece as the Redbirds beat the Brewers, 3-0, at Miller Park on Friday night. Sheets committed two errors that helped contribute to a two-run Cards fifth, but it hardly mattered with the way Suppan was dealing.

The right-hander, who went 10-1 on the road in 2004, worked out of trouble in the second inning but wasn't threatened again. He faced the minimum number of batters from the third inning until he allowed a one-out walk to Junior Spivey in the ninth.

Pujols, who had not struck out in his first 108 combined plate appearances between Spring Training and the regular season, chased a Sheets fastball for a third strike in the sixth, then whiffed again in the eighth.
