    Walker activated

    From ESPN.com

St. Louis Cardinals: The Cardinals activated outfielder Larry Walker from the 15-day disabled list Saturday.

Walker, hitting .271, batted second and played right field against the San Francisco Giants. He was placed on the disabled list July 26 with a herniated disc in his neck. He needs one RBI to reach 1,300 in his career.

The Cardinals optioned catcher Mike Mahoney to Triple-A Memphis.

Well looks like the Cards are getting back to their roots. Health should not be a big concern come playoff time. Look out for the Cards once again everyone!

Well, Rolen is out for the year, so that is a concern

Yeah, this Cardinals team definitely isn't the same as the NL Champs last year...but then again, the hitting may be worse but they have Chris Carpenter.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

I thought the Cardinals would fall apart a long time ago, but even with all of their injuries they're playing better than ever. How was I to know that their bench players and career minor leaguers would forget that they aren't regulars? I don't think losing Rolen for the year will be much of a factor, because they've won all year without him. It's true that this team isn't the same as last year. This year the Cardinals are a more balanced team with a weaker offense, but stronger pitching. Carpenter and Mulder should be a good one two punch in the playoffs, and Morris should be a good 3rd guy!

It's amazing how they have sustained these injuries and still run away with the central.
    I aim to try
